I wasn't quite sure where to put this, as we don't have a place for original universes, but I suppose since it was my dreams that came up with this world and not me, and in such detail, I don't really feel comfortable saying I came up with it, anyway. This isn't like one of my regular dreams, where I have to do some customization and ad libbing. This was one complete and incredibly awesome series.
The Mortag are a humanoid people that have incredibly advanced cybernetic technology, to the point that it is a part of life. It is so integrated that children are actually born with it. The Mortag Un is the military sector of their people. The constant cybernetic link, however, results in an almost zero difference. While the people possess free thought and emotion, they are constantly part of a hive mindset. Any Un unit can be switched out at any time for anyone assigned to civilian workings.
Because they have developed extensive control over time travel, some think that they might actually be humans from the very distant future, but they refuse to confirm or deny this. The similarities, however, are inarguable. Regardless of who they are, they have begun a war of conquest spanning all of time, itself, spreading their units through major points in time in an attempt to bring them together. For the Mortag Un are on death’s door. Not because of some great evil or because of some uncurable desease, but because time, itself, is coming to a close. They seek to extend their own time by taking the time from the past, but in the process, they start to unravel the very thing they seek to hold together, drawing not only people from throughout time into their conflict, but a greater being, as well.
Specific Characters:[/u]
Jacob Williams
Just an average guy from modern day, Jacob is perhaps the primary main character, and he finds himself pulled into a conflict far greater than anything he could have ever imagined as his sun begins to die and creatures from nightmares begin to fill his world. The only saving grace to his circumstances is Meyru, a young woman that came upon his doorstep shortly before these things began. A relationship develops, and her presence gives this average man reason to become a warrior.
Anna Campbell
A young woman from the future. She is not yet so far as the Mortag Un, but she is a crackpot scientist and actually developed the precursors to the mentally-controlled bio-armor that serves as the main weapons for the Mortag. Her people do not have time travel, but she interacts with Jacob and the others with increasing frequency as time unravelled further and further, to the point halfway through where she is a regular character. Her right arm is entirely replaced with a mechanical prosthetic, as she lost her own in an accident several years back.
Monte
Meyru’s twin brother who was sent into time with her as part of the Mortag Un’s plan to bring time together, himself being sent to Anna’s time. He remains loyal to the Mortag even when his sister finds herself faltering, but near the end, he, too, changes his allegience, deciding that if the Mortag Un truly are at the end of time, there is nothing anyone will benefit from bringing everyone else there, too. This decision costs him his life, but buys time for the others to do what they need to do to bring the Mortag Un war machine down.
Meyru
Monte’s twin sister who was sent into the past as part of the Mortag Un’s plan to bring time together. She was sent to Jacob’s time, but was attacked by an uncontrolled Korotoid, being injured before Jacob saved her. It was some time before Jacob discovered she was one of the Mortag, but by that point, she had already begun to question her mission, and had developed a close relationship with him.
Empress Vontesa
The unquestioned ruler of the Mortag Un, with complete authority over all facets of Mortag life. Her age is unknown, being heavily extended by cybernetics, so that her features no longer accurately reflect her age. She is one of the increasingly few Mortag women capable of conceiving children, a trait that has become a sure path to power, and one she lords over those who cannot. She is the primary reason the Mortag have become so extremely matriarchal. With an immense fear of death and the loss of power and authority that comes with it, she views the end of time with dread, and thus put into motion the actions to bring time together.
The Creator
While he never actually claims to be God, his power is unquestionable. If he is not God, he is certainly a Guardian being that exists outside the time stream. His knowledge of everything in the universe throughout time is outdone only by his patience and kindness toward those who grow impatient with him. The war has drawn him out of wherever he lives and into its conflict. At first, he did his best to remain out of the main scene, giving advice and directions, but eventually, he was forced to take a more major role as the situation became increasingly dire. Still, he prefers whenever possible to allow the humans to do things on their own rather than doing it for them.
Weapons:
Bio Armor
Mentally-controlled suits that fuse directly with the body. They boast defense capable of taking a tank cannon shell to the chest without any ill effects other than being sent flying, as they do not raise density, and they carry their own armaments of powerful Mortag Un weaponry.
Korotoid
Mortag Un beasts of war. Monstrous in appearance, they are bred by the Mortag Un as a sort of shock troops, released into a targetted area to wreck as much havoc as possible before the real soldiers move in, if they even have to. Korotoids are considered extremely disposable and infinitely replaceable.
The Solar Chariot
The personal cruiser of Empress Vontessa. It is the single most powerful battlecruiser in the Mortag Un fleet, capable of warp speeds so fast that it can travel the width of the universe in a day’s time. Its weapons are so powerful that it can level entire planets with ease. If it is deemed necessary to bring it onto the battlefield, the enemy can feel glorified that they warranted such an effort. Right before they are erased from existance.
The Warrior Planet
The personal ship, apparently, of the Creator. Usually disguised as an actual planet when it enters the time stream, its true form is a massive battlecruiser of incredible might capable of being piloted entirely by a single being. Its power is legendary, and is said to be the ultimate war machine, but in truth, it is only as powerful as its pilot. With the Creator at the helm, however, it is Perfection.
