Ok starting on the 23 of aug i will be switching my job to night crew, currently i work for a security company, ive done one night shift already, now nothing is the matter and nothing is bad, infact i love the night crew, all you do is one hour of work then you can sleep for 7 hours, although last time i did that i wasnt able to sleep much, any advice on how i could pass the time, my shift goes from midnight to 8am

Security company ey? What kind of security company? Just what are you protecting? These are all details that'll help me help you. I'm good at wasting time. Do you have a PSP, DS, MP3 player of some kind, portable DVD player, or anything else like that? What resources do you have work (Things there)?
Right now all I can say is bring a book, then you could look like your working, somewhat. That or Exercise. If you really want to go to sleep then you should try to watch something very boring such as anything on art. Art programs can put even the toughest attention keeper to sleep. It did that to me back in high school and I wasn't even suffering from a lack of sleep.
But really, who the hell would pay you to sleep? What are you guarding that no one seems to care about?

The best way to sleep? Why NyQuil of course. At least if it doesn't put you to sleep, you'll be really drowsy and see weird things (like the time I saw a purple hamster following me down the hallway at Extension Campus) which will help you pass time.

So you patroll the outside of the mall in a car or cart? Wow... how boring. Sure, you could go looking for those drug deals going down in the parking lot but, seeing how your not packing a gun, I would understand.
Lets see... hmmm... well I know the police at Chapman University found out how to control the traffic lights and would just play with those all night long until they (The school or the city) put a lock on the box that controled it. You could pull some pranks like making chalk outlines in all the parking spaces. They don't do that in real life, but it'd be funny. Lets see... get a interesting game for your PSP/DS. They are making a Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP that will have a VS mode on it for another person... or... atleast thats what I heard. If you want a game you could fall alseep to then get Legend of Heros (any one from 1-3). Learn Japanese... somehow. Books on tap maybe? Think up some jokes to pull while working, thats what alot of people do at my work... when they are not working. Hell, one of my bosses wrote and memoriesed a whole song like the 12 days of X-mas but for Facilites and how we are always over budget.

Heh, I say bring a bunch of DnD books and character sheets and make characters all the way up to level 100 or so one level at a time... Note this may take MY supply of DnD character sheets... cause I got about 5000 xD! Cause I have no life and a laser printer with free paper...
Read a book on energy manipulation and practice it all night long for a while see if any of it works... If it does o_0 Stay awaysss from my mindsss!
Take like 4 or so caffeine pills... Get ya addicted to caffeine after a while but its really fun! I don't suggest 8 though, that really messes you up! *I was drunk-like*
CD's as frizbees? Again may take my supply... *sigh* What can I say, family over buys...
Umm, you and a friend make cardboard weapons?

EJP, yea, i'll probably be in the car the entire night, even though im technically allowed to drive, as for games ive really lost motivation to play games lately

Heh, its what I do every time I'm in the hospital which is about few weeks... Or you could do what me, David, and Derek did Friday night... Coors Light... Make Epic DnD spells... Leave random clues that lead to some meaningless thing, like a sheet of paper saying 'Heya!'
