Rush's eyes were better suited for the dimness of the holy room than for the bright morning. There was little to see, anyway. Being one more used to massive, elaborate temples, she looked to Igashu first to be sure they had the right place.
"I, uh," the alien hesitated as she compiled her summary. "I went through a wall head first, but I don't think its broken." She put her gloved palm to the side of her hood. "My head's not broken, I mean. The wall's totally broken."

*Stonebreach*
Zionix lazily sat upright in bed after being awakened by the morning light. She had initially tried to roll over and regain a fleeting dream but that didn't work very well. She got her bearing and began a full cleansing of her person. After washing she performed a check on her body and equipment to ensure that everything was in order, dressed, and headed down for breakfast.
By the time she got there everyone was sure to have been gathered already and just waiting on her, seeing as she took her sweet time in performing her morning routine in an attempt to prolong the start of the long trek across land.

The downstairs scene wasn't all Zionix had thought it would be, as only the sergeant was really truly waiting on her; both the larger bodyguard and the captain were nowhere to be seen. Yet.
The room wasn't entirely deserted, however. as she descended, she would be able to see the gnome and his companion sitting at the same table as last night, this time with a fresh change of clothes and massive hiking packs strapped to their backs, still bickering amongst themselves over what must surely be some manner of map. Tobias casually leaned against the counter, reading some manner of previously-folded parchment. There was Janis, of course, sitting and watching out the window, and Frederik Aarden, the sergeant, leaning against the wall next to the exit door, clearly in no good humor. As Zionix reached the bottom of the stairs, the door opened, and in walked Ragnvaldr the bodyguard. He whispered something in Frederik's ear, who nodded, and the bodyguard walked across the room and climbed the stairs, paying the extradimensional scientist no mind as he did so.
"Ah! See how the lady descends to the level of we mere peasantry, to attend to the afternoon activities." Frederik turned his attention to the room's new visitor. His sarcasm was evident in both the grandiose wave of one of his hands, and his over-exaggerated tone, but he did it all in a smile. Bringing his banded-mail gauntlet back in to stroke and fix his moustache and goatee, he continued, "Perhaps if you are lucky, our Tobias might have some breakfast left over for you."
*Kegan*
The bald, robed man nodded at each explanation as it was given. He held a hand next to the forehead of each of them in turn, then, waving them all inside, he waddled towards the door on the opposite side of the room. "Nothing looks too horribly serious, as far as I can tell. Follow me, and we'll see what we can do. There's generally two methods we have for these injuries, and they both work equally well: there's a slow way that entails sending you upstairs to the infirmary and letting you rest it off as we go to work, or there's faster method. We prefer it, and it's nearly instantaneous, but most people find it to be...well, cruel, I would say. It's up to you."

"If he doesn't, it's alright, I have a substance capsule leftover." She answered absently, the sarcastic and grandiose gesture completely ignored. She noted Ragnvaldr as he approached and went upstairs but paid him no real attention as she made her way towards Tobias. As she got closer, she asked if he could make her some breakfast to go.
"So, is there anything you can create for me to get me ready for the day, Tobias, or is it all gone?" She asked innocently.

(Janis came down already,on the bottom of the last page, before the sun even came up.) *Stonebreach*The morning light filtered into an empty but plush room where it had expected to find the effeminate scientist. Instead, the odd little device had jingled a pleasant little bell more than an hour earlier and in naught but the light of a lantern, Janis had washed with water from the provided basin, patted himself with the proper oils provided for skin care and less invasive scents, dressed in his lower layer of clothes, put on his tech suit, pulled over and fastened the gown-like top, packed his things and put on his traveling robes. A breakfast downstairs of fruit and bread chased with a hot mug of peaberry tea soon saw the Rentisian scientist outside and bright-eyed, smiling at the little bit of pre-dawn life to be seen. By the time the others had gotten down there, however, he had moved back inside out of the chill, content to watch out the window while nursing a second mug of the brew. *Kegan*"The fast way is a necessity," Constance answered without hesitation and almost seeming disregard for the warning. "We were attacked and we cannot afford to remain vulnerable when one may attack again." Besides, pain was a passing thing. Momentary pain to speed the process to immediate results was acceptable regardless of intensity.

((I knew that, but for some reason I was under the impression he came back in and went back up to his room. I edited my post to correct that.))
*Stonebreach*
Tobias smiled, his eyes still not leaving the paper. "Of course, Miss. Wouldn't be much of a reputable hospitality institution if we only kept enough stock on hand for a few guests, now would we?" Tobias didn't much care if his question was answered or not; he folded the paper, put it in his pocket, and left into the kitchen.
After Tobias left, Frederik pushed himself off the wall and stood straight. Looking to Zionix, then Janis, he clearned his throat. "So, here's how we're going to have to go about this. Maybe you know, maybe you don't, but Loum has some rather strict laws about movement into and out of its Imperium, whihc could make this...interesting. The Captain already left ahead of us a while ago, and we'll meet up with her later. Rag's going to stay behind and be the last person to leave, just to make sure everyone's through the gate. I'm about to leave now, myself, but I'll be waiting just outside the gate, just so we can all travel together. If anyone wants to tag along, or has questions, speak now or...well, speak later, I suppose."
*Kegan*
The robed man didn't face them or otherwise acknowledge as Constance made the decision. Instead, he simply pushed the door, and let it swing inward to what seemed like a stair landing. "Very well then, follow me," he replied in a voice that had suddenly lost its color.
As he led the trio down stairs into the ground, the hallway became noticably dank as the torches became spaced further and further apart, until they reached a wooden door. Swinging it wide revealed a room of almost identical lighting and furnishing as the room above. "Brother, we have three persons here in need of mending."
The man looked up from his transcription. Standing up, he nearly looked identical to his counterpart, except he was tall and lanky, standing nearly a foot and a half above the other. He walked over and bent down slightly to get a better view of the three in his visual examination of them. "Hm. This shouldn't be too hard. Very well, who's first?"

Zionix smiled warmly and thanked Tobias as he left into the kitchen. She returned her attention to the group as he entered the kitchen. Frederick started to speak about that time.
After he finished, she asked with a small yawn, "What exactly are these 'rather strict laws about movement into and out of its Imperium' ? Also, is there a big gate that lets people in and out?"
If there was then she could possibly avoid all of the problems by just teleporting, since an open gate would allow her the visual needed to do so.

"There is a large gate," Janis confirmed, having turned back toward them when Frederik called their attention, setting the mug on the table between his delicately-boned hands. "At least, there is coming in, and transit is one person at a time, with tolls. I assume that going out the other side may be much the same. I am prepared to go immediately in any case, and I am sure he can fill us in on anything else we need to do." The "girl" turned "her" hooded gaze expectantly to Frederik, awaiting clarification on the matter.
*Kegan*
This time, Constance looked back at the others, as if taking their opinion this time, though he was actually observing their state of being. Though his rib was broken - and truth be told, he was pretty battered all over - he considered himself still able to act if necessary. Igashu had taken what looked like a rather nasty concussion, but seemed otherwise largely alright. Rush was in the best state, essentially completely unharmed.
He felt a little gruff at that. Things looked as if he were the worst off of the three. All because he got unlucky enough to be sent out of a window. But that wasn't the point. The others were largely fine and, despite his own claims and what he told himself, he would be handicapped severely in a fight and would be in danger of causing significantly more, possibly fatal damage to himself in the process.
Finally, he turned back to the priests with his conclusion. "Unless either of them object, I would go first."

Rush followed behind Constance. His quick decision had startled her, though it was what she would have chosen too. "Yeah, him first," the hooded woman echoed, a little more wary of the vague warning than Constance seemed to be. What was the worst that could happen? Would the lanky monk hammer healing stakes through their heads? She glanced up at Igashu behind her, hoping the prince would know something. "Right? Him first?" Whatever the holy man would do, Peach Fuzz was right, they did need to get out of town, as soon as possible. She just hoped these weren't the kind of priests that just broke your all fingers and went, "There, now does your head hurt?"

Frederik nodded, confirming the explanation. "Indeed, the south gate is more or less the same as the north one...that is, very large. Difference is there's no toll on this side, just a check station, which still makes it one-at-a-time passage."
"About those laws?" He turned his attention back to Zionix. "They're simple. Well, simple in theory. In practice, it's complicated, which is ridiculous because...anywho, the law simply states that human trafficing is illegal, and they use these choke-points in the passes to enforce that law. It was meant to stop the exportation of people to feed Medst's slave markets, but in practice the Imperium also uses it as an excuse to curb emigration and control the movement of dissident factions. Thanks to a certain recent declaration of independence, the fact that we're Riders for Darnathir puts us in the category of 'dissident faction', and I'm sure things will get fairly ugly if their sentries find out. And so, we're not traveling out he gate all at once because fewer people attracts less attention, and up here less attention means a longer life. Any other questions before I head out?"
*Kegan*
Igashu stepped aside, gesturing towards the lanky man as he did so. "Be my guest."
The taller man placed one hand upon the shoulder of his colleague, then reached out, placed a hand upon the top of Constance's head, and closed his eyes. For perhaps half a minute of silence, it nothing happened. Then, suddenly and without flair, Constance simply felt perfectly fine. No longer was he tired, or sore, or in pain. Any bruises or abrasions were gone (though he was still dirty from rolling on the ground). For lack of a better term, he looked and felt...normal, simple as that.
At first it seemed the warning of "cruelty" had been misplaced, but the ritual was not over. After several seconds more there were several audible cracking noises, and the shorter man doubled over and went upon his hands and knees, letting loose a throaty groan of pain. It was obvious it was now painful for him to breathe properly. In spite of that, he forced himself to his feet, fighting through the pain in much the same manner as Constance had when he first got up off the old wooden cart. Perhaps now the three understood exactly what was meant by "cruel", when the taller man set his hand back down upon the shoulder of his colleague without any indication of concern, looked to Igashu and Rush and asked, "Next?"

Zionix listened while she waited for her food. Though she didn't know any of those names that popped up she was still able to ascertain what was happening and the current situation.
"Ah, okay. Just one more question, after we are past this gate, will there be any other known hardships that we are to face? If so, then this should be a very simple matter."

As the monk crumpled, Rush stepped sideways to get a better view. This method of healing wasn't foreign to her, and she chewed her lip, deciding that she wasn't really hurt that badly. A little rest, she'd be fine, and she wondered then what Constance's reaction was going to be. He hadn't bothered to ask, after all. Lucubro did that sometimes. Did these priests do this kind of thing very often? Didn't it hurt? Yeah, duh, Rush answered herself, watching the man wheeze. Should they give the guy some money, or something?
"I feel fine now," the speedster responded, the lankier man's question finally registering through all of her own. "Igashu?"

Frederik had to think for a moment, scratching his blonde head with a gauntleted hand. "Hardships, I don't think so. Like Blood said, the roads are more dangerous than usual, but bandits don't tyically have the gall to attack armed escorts like us, and there shouldn't be anything along the road, 'monster' or not, that Rag, the Captain and I can't handle. And since we'll be taking evening watches, you won't have anything to worry you while you sleep. So yeah, it should be simple enough, I think."
*Kegan*
Igashu seemed distant, mouthing something. When Rush said his name, though, he snapped back to reality. "Oh...No, I think I'll be okay enough. I think...I think I'll just get this cleaned and bandaged. It doesn't feel to bad, really."

"Okay, then, I suppose my only question," Janis ventured, "is what did you mean by Riders for Darnathir?"
*Kegan*
Meanwhile, Constance's thought processes were quite different. Just absorbing the injuries ... That would be incredibly handy, especially if partial was possible. It would save many lives. Injuries that, compounded in number, would be lethal to a single person could be divided as necessary to ensure the survival and proper healing of one who would die otherwise.
So it was that he unintentionally fulfilled Rush's expectations. "How did you do that?" he asked eagerly. "How did that work? Can partial absorption be done? Can anyone do it?"

Zionix only nodded in affirmation that she heard him as a smile spread on her face. She wouldn't have to worry about protection, even though she was fully capable of defending herself, on this trip which would allow her to do more fun and engaging activities.
She took a look back at the door Tobias had went through to make her breakfast and began to wonder what the man was making for her this morning.
