For all of Rush's thrashing, the "midget" couldn't gain a solid hold of her head as was its initial intent, and the slender metal spring-loaded spike that shot from its sleeve passed harmlessly past (yet dangerously close to) her face. With all her speed, Rush was able to score a few good hits, though none of them were deep or debilitating enough to prevent her target from hitting the floor and rolling backwards toward the wall, where it immediately drew its cloak over its body.
The reason for this was soon evident; during the midget's distraction, the person on the stairs produced a small object from his cloak. With a short incantation, he lobbed the now glowing glass bead up to the landing, where it would explode into a large fireball with all the concussive force of a grenade.
Back in the room, the midget knew his fate. Muttering his curses in a language neither Igashu nor Constance could comprehend, he vanished with a barely aubible "pop" as the rapier passed through where he would have been. After a moment, with the room seemingly secure, Igashu stood rubbing his neck. With a simple nod in response to Constance, he grabbed his gear from the next to the door...just as the concussive blast of the fireball tore through the wooden planks of the walls and sent him and the surrounding furnishings airborne across the room.

Rush Delta twisted around, after the midget the instant he released her with murder in her eyes and blood flying from her arms. "Kirinisfrisaktiki-" She started to cuss, venom in the alien tongue, when the glass grenade exploded behind her.
The blast raked her bare back and burned around every midnight strand of hair. The force slammed her forward, slender shoulder first into the wall. It was over in that instant, and the Pyran stumbled up from the blackened woodpile in the (thankfully) empty room, stunned and hurt. She turned around, cut and scraped up, but totally unscathed by the inferno. Her alien panties, too, survived. Perhaps she should have kept her whole uniform. Perhaps she should have just been glad she wasn't wearing her brand new, perfectly flammable outfit. Whatever she should have been, she was mad all over again.
Rush flung herself through the destroyed wall, at the remaining assailant, arms sharp with fury. She was a blender all over again, slicing at the man, cursing him at several hundred miles per hour.

Constance nodded in response to Igashu, then started toward the door to aid the Pyran ... just for the blast to roll through the room, picking him up off of his feet and tossing him out the window behind him.

Being only a second story window, Constance didn't have far to fall after being thrown after being hit with the blast. "Only" being the second floor might not be much consolation though, for however much it might have stung to be blown through the window frame's closed wooden shutters, the unladen ox cart in the way of his trajectory in the street below won't be quite as yielding.
For Rush, the landing/hall and part of the upper portion of the stairs to the lower level, where she and the two would-be assassins stood just moments earlier, existed in a blown-apart mess of splintered and charred embers. In the area, several of the flung embers already had ignited small portions of the quite flamable surroundings, creating little pocket fires that were already beginning to spread across the dry wood and fabrics. Smoke was light so far, but it was obvious that it would soon become suffocating. The "midget" was nowhere to be seen, though from her vantage she could see the silhouette of a taller person stumbling toward the exit.

The force with which he left the window shot Constance down into the back of the rickety old ox cart and shattered it under him, startling the until-now-attached ox and sending it running away. The half-Rentisian just laid there, largely oblivious as a wooden wheel rolled by, around and collapsed dully atop his abdomen.
Finally, that stirred a groan out of him and a comment of, "Ow ..." but that was about it.

The flames that licked up the splintered stairs spurred Rush to thinking:
Fire. Her outfit. It would burn if she didn't save it.
"Aah!" She exclaimed, turning to go back, but it appeared she had a decision to make as the taller figure stumbled toward the exit, coughing and choking on the smoke. Had she killed that other assassin? She couldn't quite remember. Her head hurt. Deciding, the alien zipped up behind him and leaped on his back. "You're an assassin, right?!" She demanded, the smoke not bothering her but her own hollering worsening her headache. "RIGHT?!"

It took a moment for Igashu to lift a dresser off of him, sputtering out a few coughs as he did so as the dust and smoke irritated his throat. He let the furniture drop after scooting out from under it, and lay there for several moments before picking himself and his gear off the floor. Burying his face in the crook of his elbow, he left behind the mess of the explosion and worked his way further down the hall, hammering upon each door he passed.
Downstairs, the speed and force with which Rush leapt upon the mystery man's back surprised him and sent them both toppling forward to the floor, eliciting a short grunt. If she was expecting something understandable, she was mistaken. His response was in the same foreign language that had been uttered when he caused the explosion. She might not know if he was actually answering or not, but if she cared to wait to see if he had anything more to say, then she'd be rewarded with a massive invisible fist slamming into her side.
Several people in the area were already disturbed from their sleep by the morning's commotion. One such person, and older man in a robe, made his way over to the collapsed ox cart. After crouching for a minute, he lifted the large wheel off of Constance. "Are you alright?"

Rush was not known for her patience, but she was also not known for slicing off someone's head without reasonable cause. She chose, 'uhh,' not to err on the side of caution, just in case. "Huh?" She stayed flat on his back and failed to identify the foreign gurgling, "I can't und-OOF!"
The fist hand come from nowhere, and the inhuman force behind it knocked the speedster off the assassin (status confirmed) and against something harder. It might have been an overturned table, or a wall, she reflected. It was rough against her dense skin. She lay on her side, grimacing and breathless. 'This floor is dirty. My clothes, they'll burn!' The alien gasped hot air, and pushed herself back up. Everything was starting to hurt. 'I gotta save my clothes...'

*Stonebreach*"There are some guard-for-hire services in town here, but because they're so few and in such high demand recently, unless you have brought a small fortune with you, I doubt you can afford their services for more than a day or two. The pricing situation's going to be like that all the way until you get to Reims, at least." With a small thoughtful pause, Tobias called down to the end of the bar, "Isa, you said you lot are headed to Medst?" "Thereabouts, yes." The reply was short and weary from the blonde-haired woman by the fire. "Have room for a couple more?" At that the woman moved for the first time since they had come to the tavern. With a small turn of her head, she gazed back at Janis from the corner of her eye, sizing up him and his companion before boredly asking, "Can you hold a weapon?" *Stonebreach*Janis looked to the woman that the effeminate scientist was traveling with, then back to the woman who had approached them and nodded. He tried to roll over, to get back to his feet, but held his side in sudden pain, only to clinch his jaw and, after a moment, reiterate his previous observation as he got on up. "Ow ..."

"We carry our weapons with us." Zionix, who had been listening quietly to it all, slipped her dagger from her belt and held the end of the handle firmly with her fingertips, showing she had a weapon. She slipped it back after enough time had passed for it to be recognized for what it was. (Around 3-5 seconds.)

The woman known as Isa acknowledged both of their responses with a simple nod, then rise form her seat, turned fully and stood before them. "Good enough. We'll provide the rations and take the night watches, so you don't have to concern yourselves with those. However, if I give you orders, the same as I give my riders, I expect them to be followed without any questions." The tone of finality in her voice made it obvious that this last term was non-negotiable.
"But, I am forgetting my manners. This is my sergeant, Frederik Aarden...my bodyguard, Ragnvaldr Skovgaard..." With her fur cloak still wrapped around her, she motioned to the two men in turn, before slipping a callused hand out from under her cloak and holding it before her. "...and I am Captain Istella van Leeuwenpoort. If that is too much of a mouthful to swallow, then you're more than welcome to do as everyone else and simply call me Isa." A wry smile accompanied her last comment, as if she detested the name yet had long since resigned herself to its usage.

As Constance gimmaced to his feet, the man let the wheel fall by the wayside and helped support him. "Others will have to tend to these assassins. Come, let's get inside and fix you properly. After a fall like that, it's a wonder you still have breath to talk."
Back inside the inn, when Rush was able to look up after being bowled over, the assassin was nowhere to be seen, most likely having bolted for the door as soon as she was knocked off of him. In his stead, a couple people from some of the other upstairs rooms had made their way downstairs, carrying whatever possessions they could on their way out the door. One of them stopped and, while helping Rush to her feet with one of this hands, handed her a familiar-looking blob of materials that (with the still very dim light of the room) resembled a pile of clothing. "Miss Delta, I certainly can't object to your current array, but if you persist in your current state then I'm afraid the other women in town might become jealous..."

Zionix had never been one to get along with structured millita men or women. She always found them too demanding and annoying. That's why when she was told to follow orders, her faced turned into a questiong one and when Isa gave off a title infront of her name, Zionix released a visable sigh.
"Charming. Nice to meet you Isa and company." Zionix said looking from the hand to the woman but not taking it, trying to put on her best smile.

"A pleasure, Captain," Janis answered, bowing rather than taking the hand. It was customary in Rentis to respond thus, although the only non-Rentisian in this land that would know this would be nearly a nation away. Igashu had to break Constance of the formality, telling him it was for women. Of course, given Janis' far more effeminate appearance, it had never seemed out of place for anyone who might have corrected him to drive them to do so. "And we shall do our best to be as little trouble for you as possible. I thank you greatly for your aid."
*Kegan*
"No," Constance insisted, moving instead back to the inn. "I'll be fine." He didn't exactly look like that was the case. "This is far more important. There will be time for the nursing of wounds later."
Normally, he would have seen the figure barreling toward the back corner, but stabilizing himself against his own pains - he quietly suspected at least a couple broken ribs, and already bruises were manifesting on his bare upper body - had distracted him from what was right in front of him. The would-be assassin barreled around the corner right into him, with much the same effect as Rush before him, except when Rush did it, he hadn't been blasted out of a second story window.
The half-Rentisian let out a cry of pain as the assassin stumbled back, but before he could go anywhere, Constance's hand shot out and grabbed him by the skull, yanking it down and smashing it into his raised knee.

Rush accepted the bundle of robes in a daze, staring at Igashu like she couldn't remember who he was. Then it clicked, and she looked down at the bundle, though she didn't seem to notice the harsh smoke thickening fast in the inn. "Do I need to put them on this second? Oh!" she added abruptly, and started working a thin hand into one of her long leather gloves first. "Nudity is a taboo in this land? I didn't know. I apologize. I suspected, but Constance didn't have a shirt, so I th-where is Constance?" She suddenly gripped the prince by one sleeve, realizing the urgency. "Is he upstairs? Is he flammable?!"

Isa didn't seem put off when neither took her hand, and simply slipped her hand back within her cloak and shallowly returned Janis's bow. "We have a lot of distance to cover, and I would like to do so as quickly as possible. We won't leave without you, but I would much prefer to leave at first light. If you wish, we could have someone wake you."
*Kegan*
The cloaked man's head snapped back, and he seemed suspended in his posture for a second after Constance introduced his knee to his face. Then, he fell flat on his back, motionless.
Meanwhile, Igashu shook his head, a movement that probably couldn't be seen given the lack of light. "No, I looked; he's-" He took a moment to harshly clear his irritated throat before continuing, "He's not upstairs. He's probably either left to pursue any of those men that escaped, or the explosion caught him and he's already outside somewhere. In either case, we must hurry and leave, ourselves." Evidently, Igashu was flamable as well.
