The alien super soldier cleared the pole with his athletics programming, sailing over it, over, over, clearing ...
There was a sudden, searing moment of pain as one of the thrashing metallic serpents whipped up and slapped his side, without a doubt shattering several ribs as it knocked him sideways, barrel rolling through the air before crashing into the sidewalk beyond.
But he landed safely beyond the reach of the cables and the garden marble reached the end of the fence and fell off harmlessly, nowhere near him, either.

The collision was met with a slap of reality. The witch rolled over and groaned, feeling the warm cement against his uninjured side as smoky wisps curled up from the other in the noon sun's light.
Lucubro clutched the wound, gasping and wincing at every motion. It was a logical progression, he reflected. Each time he should have killed the creature, his attempt only came back to him, more and more severe.
"I give." He coughed, certain the demon cat god heard. "Sorry I bothered..." Bothered with shock therapy.

"Meow."
The simple sound came from Jack as he sat atop the downed power pole, casually bathing his ear as if he had all the time in the world while the thick power cables continued to thrash about him, and while sometimes their erratic paths would bring them within mere inches of the frightless animal, they never actually touched him.
