*A search of any kind of the farm land would reveal no clues as to the smell or anything that might have seemed out of place. The farm lands appeared to just be void of any people besides the 4 leaf shinobi. However right where the road entered the forrest road that lead to the village of Hao Lo a small shine from an object could be seen. Once the ninja got closer they would be able to tell that this object was a trip wire. Uppon getting much closer, the ninjas would be able to tell that this trip wire was different from your average kind. It was somewhat high tentioned and made of some kind of metal. Not ideal for a day time trap since the metal was highly reflective. However, any ninja with even the a little bit of knowlege in trap dissarming would be able to tell that this wire, was not going to be cut without setting off the trap, if there was a trap to begin with. The wire was anchored to the tree on the left, while on the right is where the wire dissappeared into some bush and couldn't be safely tracked to a trap of some kind. Investigation of the bush would reveal that the wire had been tried around some the branches of the bush before moving onto a big tree it was next to. After which the wire seemed to just be attached to the tree.*
*The forrest had tall trees most of which had no branches for atleast 13ft up from the roots, for only the inside of the forrest. These tree branches and some trees had been cleared to make a road way through the forrest to the village. Each tree had a big pale like green trunk with small fern like green leafs and only a few branches that looked like they could support a person sitting on them. The smell of a dead body was even stronger when close to the trip wire. Somewhere beyound the trip wire but very close to it (but not in sight) there was a dead body, if not more than one.*

(Gah, I've been thinking of D&D too much. I wanna say I want to search for traps just on the other side of the Blatantly Obvious Tripwire (BOT) for a second, better-hidden trap, then roll a search check.)
Mei carefully approached the BOT and looked from one side to the other. She made several hand signs as pink chakra radiated from her. "Kyuuten no Shuppon!" Before the eyes of the others, she seemed to become somewhat regressed in age, becoming smaller, sleeker, but while it looked like age regression, it was actually amplifying her speed. It was her intention to boost the speed at which she could respond if something happened as she moved to inspect what might be just beyond the tripwire for anyone who might try to step over it.

"Good idea Mei. I was just about to suggest that." He scratched his head. "Try not to get hurt, it would be tough to have an injured before we even meet the person we have to protect."

(*rolls dice* sorry Ninmast, no luck.)
*Just as Mei started to investigate the trip wire, a moment of bad luck hit her and the rest of the team. A small light brown flying squirrel flew down and landed right on top of the trip wire. The trip wire suddenly went limp and retracted a bit as if it was a rubber ban that suddenly broke, but the retract, if it did hit anyone, didn't have enough force to do any damage past a small bit of pain, as if getting hit by a rubber band that suddenly broke. However right as the trip wire went off, a small hissing sound was heard. This hissing sound was similair to a fuse that had been lit. 4 secounds after the hissing sound was heard there was a light poping sound shortly followed by alot of light poping sounds. Anyone who was looking at the tree next to the road with the bush next to it that the trip wire went though would see a bunch of tinyer than a firecracker explosions going off in a strange pattern on the front of the tree's trunk. Unless you were resting against the tree, these small explosions were harmless. When the little bit of smoke cleared the trip wire and small explosion suddenly made some sense. The strange pattern of the explosions created the Leaf Village's sign, that was on the head ban of every Leaf village ninja, right on the tree's trunk, facing the road. This Blatantly Obvious Trap, was infact a message. However, with the message not even being a word, its meaning could have ment many different things. The only thing that was obvious was that someone knew the Leaf village ninja were coming. Only as the 4 ninja ventured further into the forrest would the message become clear.*

Mei watched the crackling as it progressed, tensed and ready to move if necessary, but after nothing else happened, she simply shot the squirrel a dirty look.

*The squirrel ran away right as Mei gave it a dirty look.*

Nasu looked at the Leaf's symbol blasted into the tree. "Well, that was like a lot of work for no apparent cause," he mumbled. "Seems like spray-paint would've sufficed. I wonder if it's supposed to mean something?"

"I'm gonna throw out a guess," Mei answered, "and say that it wasn't for our benefit. It was for theirs. Like a sensor. Now, not only do they know that someone's coming, but who they are coming under."

"Well we can't do much more than proceed with caution. I'll lead and scout out any danger. Try to stay out of sight. If our "assailants" haven't seen us, it would be best for our cause."

*As Ryu headed down the road a scene out of a horror film was placed before him. Spots and slashes of dried up blood were all over the trees and ground. However the more frightening sight was that of what looked like a Rain village ninja impaled onto a tree and hanging from a black machete. The machete was impaled right through the rain ninja's dieafram (Where the stomach meets the ribs) and appeared to have been deeply inserted. Strange was that the rain ninja's weapons and headband were missing. If one had seen a rain village ninja before, they would be able to tell from the outfit the ninja was wearing and the breathing mask most rain ninja whear. Right away anyone who had seen a dead body before could tell that this rain ninja was dead and based on the pooling of blood as well as rigor mortis, had been day for over a day. Further more, it could be concluded that this ninja died slowly from the machet based on all the dried blood that came out and around the breathing mask. Strange, was that with all the blood around him, there wasn't a single sign of a fight before this ninja was impaled. Unless the tree healed from cuts and puncture wounds within a day, the area around the impaled ninja had zero signs of a struggle. A little futher ahead of the imapled rain ninja, there was more blood and signs of an ambush.*
*Only if Ryu or one of the other ninjas looked up, would they noticed another possiably rain village ninja hanging from a tree from ninja wire. Like the impaled ninja, this other rain ninja was clearly dead. No based of blood pooling or rigor mortis, but by the fact that the ninja's head looked like it could fall off at any moment. Somone, after stringing him up, slit his throat very deep. If someone was too walk past the handging body a ways and then look back, they would see a mark high up in a tree that was consistant with a windmill shuriken right at the perfect angle for the slashed throat. A look at the hanging rain ninja's feet would reveal that each had a strange punture wound that went through the feet. Even stranger was the fact that the ninja wire tied around the ninja's ankles also went through these punture wounds in the feet. Like the impaled ninja, the hanging ninja didn't have any weapons or a headband on him.*
*The area in which both these ninja were killed showed signs of an ambush, yet the area was a avoid of foot pints and left behind weapons, besides the machete and ninja wire. Based on the way both ninja were killed and much the trees having marks from thrown weapons and paper bombs, it would be safe to guess that their was another ninja that was with the two if not more. However the area had no more dead bodies, just more blood that couldn't have come from the hanging or impaled rain ninjas. Furthermore, both these dead ninjas were not rookies. Although missing any signs of rank, both were in their late teens to early 20s. If Ryu or any of the other ninja were to travel past the hanging body, they would notice a trail of dried blood leading towards the village.*

Ryu signaled the others to follow slowly as he inspected the dried blood. He looked at the others with a questioning face. "Well, I'm a little worried about this."

"Either some of the Rain ninja survived and retreated to town," Mei theorized, "or the massacre went on in. Because the gear is all gone, I'm going to guess we may need to worry about imposters."

Ryu shook his head. "If they planned to charade as the ninja, they wouldn't have left them in plain sight. I think this is more of a warning than anything else."

(Until one of you starts moving past the dead bodies, this RP can't continue.)
*Ryu's inspection of the dried blood would show nothing past the blood being black dried blood that had been sitting there for a good amount of time. The area around the bodies was quite, who ever killed these two had long since left and could be in the village up ahead.*

"I see no other option than to continue. We must protect... um whoever this guy is. I forget, but that doesn't matter." He walked forward carefully searching for traps of any sort.
