"It's my pleasure, miss," Rensik told her as he accepted the package. "It's what I do. I'll find your son, don't worry."
He bowed to her politely and, careful to make sure he didn't smudge anything, left the tavern through the door he came in. Once outside, he used the crystal map for a moment to get his bearings, then headed toward the Shard Chasm accordingly. What was a few minutes' walk was something he could cover quickly at a run, he was sure, and even the satchel with the crystal map and glacia rolls woudn't be much of a hindrance.

The Shard Chasm was as it's name implied, filled with jagged fragments that protruded from the ground and had a depth that dipped sharply into a darkened pit. There were several frigid spikes that lined the floor the higher ones being of the usual white-blue variation and the darker, purple and black ones leading towards the bottom. It was a massive incline, nearly a vertical descent, and it was lined with all sorts of objects that looked as though they didn't belong to the kingdom. There was trash and metal formed into things that were otherworldly and there were scavengers of mainly the animal variety browsing the contents of the chasm.
But for the most part it was still, and the icicles were rigid and unmoving, making only slight creaking sounds as the pressure of moving creatures passed along them. Despite how trashy and filthy it looked closer to the bottom, the air was absolutely fresh and even more chilling than the higher-up areas, so much so that one felt the need to breathe slower to avoid having the air itself cut painfully into their lungs.
A figure seemed to be digging around in the mounds of products at the bottom, what they were looking for exactly couldn't be told from the vantage point at the mouth of the Shard Chasm.

Nor could it be told from another vantage point—that within the dark, cold tunnel that Judas Magick was wandering.
He was of average height and light build, clad in black pants and a white tunic with a red heart stitched on the hem. Hardly any of this reflected in the dark shards he was avoiding, for there was little light but that which shone from his bright blue right eye. He had gone to the trouble, at least, of blinking until he got it.
Judas stepped over another dagger-like work of natural art, listening for the digging and rummaging. He was trying to move away from it, but it seemed to be getting louder. And he'd tried going back the other way, but it only seemed louder there, too.
But all of the sudden, the low ceiling soared up high and out of sight, and the Cursed Eye found himself in the open, and staring stupidly at the source of all that nerve-wracking noise.

The maker of the noise in question suddenly stopped at seeing a completely foreign being emerge.
"Oh, hallo," the indigo figure gestured a wave with a clawed hand of crystalline fingers at Judas. The creature set down what appeared to be a crude chisel and motioned that he was going to help Judas out from where he was.

Judas blinked, looking up, back at the crystal stranger, at the chisel, around at all the ice.
Then, he approached as beckoned. "I... I think I'm a little lost."

From above descended the other human, moving nimbly from one sharp, crystalline outcropping to the next by simply jumping to each one. In a matter of moments, he had landed lightly on the other side of the excavator. "Sorry to interrupt," he greeted, then addressed the crystal man specifically. "Are you Mechio? Your mother sent me to find you. She's getting worried about you."

Mechio moved back in mild surprise but recovered his earlier cheerfulness at the mention of his name, "Oh whoat, this mus' be a very marked day, a Norn mosta smiled for all my digging to meet two untainted New Ones. But I'll tell you abo't that later, since she's worried it mus' be very late."
He shuffled about for a moment, making to pick up his tools again as well as his own bag from a protrusion that had been holding it, the bag itself sounded like it was filled with various pieces of junk and other trinkets made of metal rather than the usual motif of ice and crystal. Mechio pointed back in the direction Renisk had vaguely appeared from, "We can talk alon' the way of cors', the more you know the better off you'll be in this place.
"You aren't really lost in whoat you think you might be. Its more like you were ca'ght in here. You may not know remember or know but you may have been near a mirror or somthin' like that before you were thrown in here. The bad part about that issat even though I can tell you how you got here, no one seems to have figur'd out how to leave. I'm still tryin' to figur' it out myself.
"So since you migh' be stayin' here for a while, not sayin' you are, but since you're here you can ask me any questions."
He stopped in the middle of walking and lightly conked his own head, "Oh yeah sorry for the ramblin' but care to introduce yerselves to this rude fool?"

"I'm Judas, son of Joshua Magick, but Jude is fine," mumbled the nervous teenager, blinking only his left eye. "A pleasure, sirs."

The ninja-clad young man nodded, his own silver hair not looking unlike the surrounding crystal, but clearly hair and not ice. "Call me Rensik," he answered. "And I'm an interdimensional traveler. No mirror here, just a weak spot between worlds. Nobody seems to buy that, though, not that I blame them."
He shifted the pack he was carrying with his shoulder. "Your mother sent rolls with me in case you were hungry, too."

Mechio glanced at the indicated foodstuffs and took them, "Oh thank you kindly Rensik. A bountiful notion of a Parcae it is." He bowed slightly as he took them and nodded over to the boy offering one of the implied food items to him, "And a pleas're it is to meet you as well Judas. Matres protect your young life."
"As you mighta figur'd, we get folks like you quite a bit. I'd love to hear your stories if you didn' mind it, but don't feel forced at all, we understan' if that's your private territory and I'd like to avoid losin' another eye," Mechio let out a nervous laugh at that mention.
At quieting himself, he glanced at Rensik, "You mentioned you wer' one of those travell'rs right? I think the last one who was here was a travellin' minstrel or somethin', she used to talk all 'bout the walkin' the music of the univers' or somethin' like that. She looked a bit like you, so you wouldn' happen to know her would you?"

But Rensik could only shake his head. "I've known a lot of minstrels, and more than a few of them with more magical power than I have," he explained. "You'd really have to be more specific, sorry."

He scratched his head awkwardly for a moment, a purely aesthetic gesture given his condition before speaking, "I could take you to her but I'd say she's been the better part strun' up by a meddlin' Disir. I was hopin' you knew her, maybe help her remember herself, she never told us her name. Poor lass that, she wen' faster than most you know."
Mechio motioned for them to continue their journey back, mentioning a few locales of note such as various mills and markets as well as the native values they placed in the varying shades of ice and crystal as well as the smooth texture of their valuables. He informed them about how some of the creatures were vicious, others benign and others that see-sawed between either on deadly whim, saying the best way to know was to look at the aurora flame and to be careful of anything with deep-blue claws. They were almost back to the inn when he'd stopped abruptly before the door.
"I've been meanin' to ask you. What was she doin' before you went out?"

"I can certainly try," Rensik agreed at the question of going to see this minstrel, "but we should get you safely home first."
On the way there, he listened intently, but silently, to every word Mechio told them, paying particular interest, not to the valuables, not to the markets, but to anything that made reference of how he could tell friend from foe.
When finally at the door and asked a question again, he answered, "She was scrubbing at a bump in the table. She was worried she'd have to polish the knob, too, but was relieved when she found out I wore gloves."

He gaped and his entire figure almost seemed to dim as if this new information was painful. He set down his satchel and looked over the two of them, "If you have anything like a mirror or something metal on you, we have to leave it out here."
Mechio looked over at Judas, specifically eying the right side of his face, "I hate to be rude, but do you have anything to cover up your face...?" He was trying to sound as kind and polite about it as he could, but something about the way his words lingered implied that there was fatal meaning attached to it.
(I give up putting in his accent @_@)

The boy flushed a bright pink. He was used to people pointing out his eye, but he wasn't often asked outright to cover it.
"I-I'm sorry..." He fumbled, nervously sliding a silver band off his left ring finger. "I can change the color. Or I could just keep it closed."
