At Toriji having his own guesswork backfire, a tiny relief and bitterness infected Ivan's thoughts. Like the fun was suddenly sucked out of the situation because the implied demons standing before him weren't a big enough break from the norm anymore. His jaw tensed to make a quip at the 'magic swordsman's' accuracy being busted, but recalled that no one had really introduced themselves. He hadn't even introduced himself.
The magician gave a huffed laugh at the prospect of an antisocial cloud beginning to wedge itself between the members of their meager group. 'There's not even enough to make a country club' being his next dry observation.
He did his best not to drawl as he addressed the group in a polite of manner as possible, "The beautiful irony of this setup, gentlemen and madame, is that we know who invited us," he gave a distasteful spark of a glance in Toriji's direction,"but we don't really know each others names for the most part. In the notion of formality I think we should finish introducing ourselves and then denote titles and/or insults according to personal preference."
Ivan nodded sagely to himself which was an odd sight given he was fairly short in comparison to the others, "Refusal to do so will warrant nick-names until a suitable name is supplied." His features were warm again and he motioned to shake the hand of Sam, sparing a glance for the mask, "Pleasure to meet you Sam and Zulon, I'd preferred if you called me Ivan."

"You can all call me Toriji, King of the Bone Demons. But Toriji will be fine." He turned an expectant eye to the other demon, hoping for her to refresh his memory.

Kagetsuki had appeared annoyed at Sam and Zulon's responses, a reaction that only increased when Ivan spoke. She was visibly agitated, eyeing the two humans narrowly as her bat-like wings stretched open and snapped closed, probably unconsciously; her response to the two of them was a short and cool, "It is as you say, I'm sure."
She merely nodded to Toriji at his apology, features somewhat softer towards him than when she looked at the other two. Though she hadn't met any of these people before it was always just a little more comforting to talk to a demon, at least until they proved themselves filth like much of the rest of her species had.
It wasn't until Ivan suggested introductions (she herself rolled her eyes at the mention of titles, nicknames and insults) that she spoke again, raising an eyebrow towards Toriji. "King?" She questioned, voice carrying a note of mild interest now. "My, what a surprise. Humans," Here she turned to Ivan and Sam, though she hesitated at the latter, "And...whatever entity lies within you or that artifact. It would appear you've found yourselves in a rather rare situation--you are in the presence of not one, but two members of royalty. I would really prefer you all not to know who I am but if the consequences are going to be nick-names, the likes of which I'm sure will be ridiculous," This was accompanied by a tight-lipped scowl towards Ivan, "You may call me Kagetsuki. I am a queen."
What kind and of what she didn't say, nor did she seem inclined to.

Sam accepted the hand and gave a nod at Ivan, showing he understood. He also took note of Toriji's name and Sam's brow furrowed in thought. Kagetsuki spoke next and her name too caught his attention.
"Moon's Shadow?" he said to kagetsuki after a moment of thought and then to Toriji, "Infant bird?"
He had been taught some of Japanese during his time in Japan and the years alongside Aina Wakahisa, a ninja who had met an untimely death. His hand absently went to his right thigh where a black headband had been tied around, fingers touching it loosely as he spoke to them.

Ivan refrained from scoffing at Toriji's claim of being of noble title. Anyone could call themselves a king but it was a hell of a lot more difficult to become one that was remembered much less earn the right for others to address them by their title.
As for how Kagetsuki reacted, or more how her movements implied, he thought best to actually leave her alone, which was something even he knew he rarely did. He mourned putting off the exchange of information about magic in lieu of her enigmatic and fairly well-acted part of being royalty, but he knew better than to press her. She seemed like the type that wouldn't speak openly as long as she was in one piece, and even then he'd only openly try to speak to her when she was in no position to refuse conversation.
At Sam's mention of how their names sounded to a certain country of their world he tapped his forehead with a 'think harder' motion, he sounded like he was giving a casual lecture, "Most likely they're aliases or just a coincidence. Besides, if they were actually Japanese names you'd have to see how they were written to know the real intention of their meaning. It's nothing big but you should be more careful about using Ockham's Razor when it comes to things like this."
You never know what sort of trouble it can land you into.

Toriji was once again suprised by Kagetsuki, a queen. He belived her because any demon claiming such a title in his world would be killed without proof, and because she carried herself so regally that it made sense. "It is quite odd to have this situation, but we are dealing with Kali. And I know from experience that he is capable of just about anything. Sam, Ivan, Kagetsuki, and myself. It is a mismatched group to say the least, but to put up and effective fight against the Man-Demon himself, we need to work together... and work together as fluidly as possible."

(You totally stole that from Veritas. But that's cool, at least he remembered something.)

Ivan cracked his knuckles expectantly, Agari and Deva were floating around with more zeal behind his head, "Well this'll be a whole grab bag of fun, but that's what makes it so interesting! So care to share any info on the guy 'sides his name and nick-names or are you going to just hog that kind of info by yourself?"
He looked expectantly at Sam, Zulon and Kagetsuki, "My specialties are boxing and magic, gonna share yours or leaving it up in the air until big-bag comes by? We already know talk-box here's good at being a magic swordsman."

"Bladed weapons and magic," Was Kagetsuki's only reply. Like Ivan she didn't seem inclined to divulge what kind of magic; that would be left to demonstration. Her eyes flicked between her new 'team' members, following Agari and Deva for a moment, studying Sam's mask and giving Toriji's sword a once-over. The queen didn't appear enthusiastic about this whole 'working together' business. Two humans were hardly the sort she wanted on a team; that was what her Entourage was for. Truth be told she hadn't even really been intending to fight Kali; her only purpose in coming to the human world was to see what he was doing.
But she wasn't going to tell them that.
"As for Kali," Here she crossed her arms over her chest and turned her cold eyes to Ivan, "He is the Prince of Hell. The son of the Great One...I believe he is most known as Satan here? Or, ah...Lucifer?"

Ivan face went blank at the mention of that. A match against a cosmic and highly recognized figure, one he'd doubted even existed at that? Now that is interesting. Agari and Deva sensed his emotions towards the new information and were quivering with anticipation, "Oooh, I've never heard of him visiting before doomsday, then again the Bible isn't exactly reliable so my memory's probably vague."
He pounded his fists together, too-wide of a grin writ on his face, "But to hell with that information, if he's even half of what that phone book of Aesop stories describes, this is easily worth the trip of coming out here!"

[Yes, well it is going to be pounded into his head over the the time she's there.]
"It seems we are all magicians of some sort. I use a wide variety magic and my trusty sword as you can all see." He crossed his arms as Kagetsuki told everyone who Kali was. Ivan's reaction concerned him. "He is everything you can imagine and more. If ever there was a person not to take so lightly, he is the one. If you go in it as wild as it seems you intend to, you will be among the first to die."

The rain poured down between the monolithic structures, pattering upon black rock and off the cycloptic eyes of beetles scurrying back and forth upon it on their round, rolling feet. The passengers riding in their noisy little innards would have had to truly craned their necks quite spectacularly to see the odd speck atop the maze's tallest wall, and none would take the time out of their mindless drone existence to do it, so the figure atop the clock tower remained unnoticed. It was equally unknown that just as it would have seemed a speck in their eyes, so did they from the other perspective, though this comparison was not in sight alone.
Though the rain atop the tower was unhindered by the barriers of buildings that protected the people that nonetheless hid beneath their colorful little umbrellas, making them appear like little, round blobs of this, that and another, long, blonde locks remained untouched even as they were stirred by the wind that rushed up, surging to escape the confining canals that ushered them down the streets below. Where standing water pooled, it parted to permit the unscuffed, unblemished dress boots passage.
"This world has been without me long enough," the figure stated as it stared down at the pitiful display of life passing by the base of the tower, though no other being was within hearing distance. "It has grown stale and complacent. Soon, the show will begin, and once it is over, this world will know change."
The massive clock beneath the unscuffed boots sounded off with a bell that sent tremors like that of an earthquake shooting back up into the legs within them, but it disturbed the figure not. Still, it waited until it faded, allowing the bellowing behemoth its say before resuming its own words, as soft as the fluttering wings of a dove by comparison.
"My guests are late, however," the figure mused. "Perhaps I moved about too much for them, and I should light a candle to guide them home ..."
Arms clothed in pale cream, draping cloth spread wide and the tower began to rumble, as did the buildings immediately surrounding it. Like putty or an image seen through a distorted mirror, the towering time piece stretched upward, thinning in its middle in the process. The surrounding buildings began to stretch upward, too, but then bent inward, as if drawn to the tower by gravitational forces their designers never anticipated. They bent in, tilting to the side in the process so they swirled about the elongated structure.
Below, the cyclops beetles were swerving about in a panic, crashing into one another and regurgitating their occupants., who, depending on how they were expelled, either smashed against something, themselves, or struggled to flee in another direction, entirely. Soon, however, the gravitational forces became too great and whatever was still there began to distort, as well. People just outside the influence turned to see friends and family, parents and children stretched grotesquely and, if they were only partway in, they quickly found whatever was there stretched and contorted into the growing mass. The cries of those both partially in and observing combined with the distorted moans of those caught fully within to form a baleful wail of agony, haunting and nightmarish as the very air seemed to take on the personality of Hell.
Above, the horrendous architecture was beginning to take its final shape and deep within the crust of the Earth, what was once the base of the tower pierced into the fiery veins of the planet, and in a tumultuous exclamation, it rushed up the interior of the tower, clearing a path straight to the top and blew the roof clear as the gout of magma burst red and hot into the sky.
Even to this, the figure paid no mind, though its back was directly next to it, and like a twisted wax candle of steel and concrete, its light was born.

"Well that's alright, it'd serve me right wouldn't it? Arrogance is one thing, anticipation is another," he flashed a smirk at the needless warning but that immediately vanished as Agari suddenly darted in agony to the floor and Deva's iris turned upwards, its lids widening with a silent scream.
Ivan looked around out of reflex from the jolt, the poison of concern tainting his usually masked emotions but said nothing. This Kali individual had done something again and on an even larger scale than before so that regardless of distance he could detect the familiar scent of deliciously arcane magic from wherever it originated.
His smirk was returning again, "I think he's gotten impatient." He calmed Agari enough to try seeking out what he assumed were several shadows of corpses somewhere on the planet, if that didn't work he'd have to to use his cruder means of detection.

The new burst of energy hit Kagetsuki hard, compounding with her existing headache to make the queen pale and wobble on her feet, then fall to her knees with a gagging sound. She groaned and gripped her head, curling in on herself as pain eclipsed all else; it seemed very much like she was trying to disappear. Whatever ghost voices she'd thought had been left behind at the palace were back by the time the throbbing died down enough for her to notice--laughter and a constant whispering, Too late, you were always too late.
Moujuu was lying. There had to be a drought stronger than what he'd given her. Had to be something to get rid of these hallucinations. Perhaps not the nightmares but she wasn't sure how much longer she could take the mocking laughter and the ghosts in the waking world.
She forced herself to her feet when it was possible, turning away from the others so they wouldn't see. Of all things, even with the pain in her head and everything else, showing weakness to these people, especially the humans, was unthinkable. The demon instead focused on what had just happened, pointing off into the distance and saying, "It came from that direction." Her voice wavered with the first words but hardened by the end, and she grit her teeth in anger that she hadn't yet recovered. If any of them happened to ask if she was alright they were going to get a very cold reply.

In the land with the twisting tower and the corpses strewn about, a blotty figure, something mutated and humanoid emerged from the ground. It was Deva, though no one would know or really notice it given the overshadowing chaos. It surveyed the area with its lone red eye, sniffing the air for the strongest source of the ancient magic. It saw the form of the figure, but not the particular, merely saw the brilliant aura of power. Deva confirmed this and sent back the tugging thought to its master.
Back with the others Ivan was steadily moving forward in a trance towards where Deva was. He'd teleport the rest of the way later, he'd rather save as many tricks as he could for the fight itself.
