The President-Elect has become the President. Some of you are cheering, some of you are groaning, some of you don't care and some of you are just trying to do your civic duty and support the office.
What'd you think of the proceedings? Was it what you were looking for? Was it what you were hoping for? Did you have nightmares about it last night? Will you have them tonight? What was your favorite part? Your least favorite part? What do you think will happen now?

I think the media will continue to replay the whole speech for the next week or two. I'm burned out on caring in all honesty.

How many times do you think we'll hear that horrendous poem over the course of the next week or two? I wonder how much Obama paid for that ...

I'm like zandyne- tired of hearing about him. Hopefully now that he's president every fifth sentence on all the liberal news stations won't be something singing his praises. It's not likely, but one can always hope... And about his plan to change America, good luck, but Congress still exists.
The highlight of the entire inauguration for me: "...the brown can hang around, the yellow can stay mellow, the red man can get ahead, man, the white can get right. Amen! [AMEN!] Amen! [AMEN!] Amen! [AMEN!]" I do not know why, but my entire AP English class (including me) found that hilarious...

I'm one of the people who didn't care. I voted for the dude, thats a enough for me. I was actualy a bit pissed off that I didn't get to hear what the weather would be today and who died over night or whats happening war wise. When I wake up and I'm eatting my creal, I want the F*** Damn news F*** Damn it! Not just one thing that is happening is one area.
The highlights of the Inaguration for me were, my Bio 101 class was canceled because of it (But not the lab) and I managed to get some work done on one of my characters while it was happening. Really the only true highlight for me was...
*EJP goes to CNN.com.* CNN: "Obama's now the president of the United States of-" *EJP switches over wikipedia to get some historical information about gunpowdering.*

It actually went, "When the black isn't asked to go to the back, the brown can hang around, the yellow is mellow, the red man can get ahead man, the white can embrace what's right." I gotta admit, that was a complete slap to the face. These people are living back in the sixties. Really, where have they freaking BEEN for the last forty years? If this is what the Obama presidency agrees with, then they believe that all us white folk are still the enemy, we're still making the black people sit in the back of the bus so we can sit in the front, they think that the Mexicans should stay here without condition, they think that the Orientals are somehow up in arms (they're some of the "mellowest" people I know as an ethnicity) and that somehow, the Native Americans are forced to do nothing. These people have no concept of the real world. They're stuck in a Sixties mentality. They probably still think the National Guard is going to keep their kids out of equal education.

Ah, well thanks for correcting me. I knew it went something like that. I wasn't really paying attention during the speech. And they can have their front of the bus for all I care. The back of the bus is where you get all the sweet air when going over potholes, anyway!

I think what I find more troubling is that EVERYONE is acting like Obama is some sort of savior...especially given the "requirements" for being President, ANYONE OF ANY RACE CAN RUN! It's not like the "white man" was barring them or anything, it's a matter of self-motivation and responsibility and apparently people just aren't willing to step up to bat. And race shouldn't factor into how well a leader is perceived, it's called being RACIST. It begs the question of what if he were ASIAN or any other race...well what if he was white? Now that would have been a RIOT, oh wait no it wouldn't have. However hopefully with this development the rest of the population can get over it. I'm curious if it'll be this much of a overdramatic ritual if a woman is ever elected to office or another "oppressed minority."

Sorry, I only got the swearing in and the inaugural address part of the whole thing. A great inaugural address, I must say. President Obama is a damn good speaker, and writer too. Good to have someone like that again after all these 8 years.
What's this about terrible poetry? Has Maya Angelou lost it or something, or did some other hack poet say some ridiculous?

I haven't heard a lot of mention about race, other than it is pretty significant that he is the first black president when there are still people who lived through the civil rights movement. Obama only mentioned his race one time, in passing, as far as I remember. I think those who don't like Obama seem to get tied up with the race thing. And maybe other black people. Oh, and racism against blacks is still here in Texas, although most of the racism has shifted towards the middle-eastern people. I thought the poem that came before the one everyone is discussing was a lot worse. It bored the hell out of me. "I'm curious if it'll be this much of a overdramatic ritual if a woman is ever elected to office or another "oppressed minority." " A woman president, and then maybe a gay president, and maybe a transgendered president, and maybe *gasp* presidents of different or no religion. Electing a black president is a start, it shows that someone other than a white, Christian, male can be president. Although, I'm not sure how necessary it is to have diverse presidents, other than it's the best example of equality in America.

That's the point, we should have diverse individuals based on their internal worth as a person not what they were born as. I wonder if they'll ever do a blind-vote for when it comes to presidential campaign coverage, only release the voices and goals and let's see who votes for who, it'd be pretty fair and interesting that way.

Yes, Marth. That explains it perfectly. The pastor that Obama chose to represent him spiritually at his first step into office wasn't ACTUALLY claiming that nothing had changed in the last forty years. He couldn't. We must have missed something. Perhaps we should grab the footage and check for individual frames every sixty where the screen flashes, too quick for the human eye to notice, "We LOVE America! We don't think Whites are what's wrong with the world! Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" Oh, wait, we can't. It was live.
