Mairsile promptly stood straight as a rod, her eyes going distant as she heard her mother calling for her. "Uh-oh ..." she thought to the human, unaware he couldn't hear Fairin. "That's my mother ..."
She took a deep breath and tipped her head, putting on a smile to sound cheerful. "I'm right here, Mother, aboard the ship with the others. I'm looking for the ship's wizard like you instructed me."

"Is that where you are?" Fairin asked, realizing the ship was obviously was the best place to look. "Well, never mind the mage," she countermanded. "The human leader is down here with your sisters and they're all over him! You must come here at once before one of them can claim him before you. He's the one Mairsile, I'm sure. Now hurry!"
Mairsile could hear her mother shriek assertively as she moved in to claim Ian for her youngest daughter.

"Your mother?" His mind quickly ran over a list of vague protocols of the mission in the Isles and mentally weighing the possibilities of prodding Mairsile to try and follow her or if it would be better to remain on the ship. Her sudden change in demeanor and the previous comments she'd made, clearly hinted she wasn't exactly tight with her own clan.
At one hand he was told not to bother them and to be on his best behavior, yet on the other he couldn't help the nagging feeling in his gut that he shouldn't try and stay close to such an extraordinary girl, even by mermaid standards.
He choppily moved closer to her, his mind already made up even if it wasn't entirely sound, "If you have to go, can I follow you?" He clasped her hands with his from his nervousness, and because he'd heard that such an action was a man's way of showing a girl he'd meant something when he'd said it.

Mairsile looked at him in confusion. "How well can you swim?" she asked.

He beamed at her, "I can swim pretty well! I think the only problem could be breathing but I brought a Nereid Charm just for that." He let go of her hands and set about digging around in some of the bags that were stowed under the beds. After sorting through what appeared to be several useless trinkets, he retrieved something that looked like a small shell whistle on a necklace.

Mokuva knew she couldn't calm them down on her own, so she simply sat on a rock about thirty feet from all the commotion and waited.
"I had so many more question too......how irritating. Oh well, i'll just have to wait untill they stop acting like little children, the tide water are much to fickle for their own good. Why must I be the only red in a sea of blue, I hope my clan gets here soon."

The girl was immediately distracted from the call of her mother. "Oh, a Nereid Charm?" she repeated. "Is that human magic? What does it do? How does it work?"

His face lit up at the questions, and he was more than eager to explain it to her "The creation origin is a little ambiguous, but it definitely came from Greece. Currently it isn't certain if a nymph, mermaid or a human made this, but I'm pretty sure its for human use.
"This charm helps the wearer breathe underwater as long as there is sunlight, and even if there isn't any, it can still work for a few hours beyond that. As far as what I've read, there are only fifty of these in the world. I was pretty lucky to get this on such short notice!
"The problem with this is that only one person can use it at a time, so that's why I've been trying to fix the problems with that other casting charm on the seed."

"Ooooh," she answered, jutting her head toward the little device in his hands. "How fascinating!" Mairsile heard her mother calling again and stood up straight once more. "We should get going." She started toward the door, but then remembered the hordes of Tide Water on deck and paused. "Um ... is there another way out?"

Jack pumped both his fists in the air and let out an impressive " 'HOYEAH!" before getting back to the matter at hand. He scratched his chin in thought, and after the idea emerged in his mind, snapped his fingers.
"We could go through Flower's release hatch," he tugged at her hand and started heading in the appropriate direction, "Let's go-" he paused for a moment as he got to the door. He abruptly let get of her hand and went back to his mound of belongings.
"Just a sec, almost forgot something important." Once again, he rifled through various bags and knickknacks until he got to a particularly long carrying case which he promptly slung over his shoulder. Jack grabbed her hand again, flashed a smile at her and continued heading to the release area.

The mermaid watched him in curiosity as he dug out the long box, then as he led the way to the release hatch, she asked, "What is the box for?"

He nudged the oddly-shaped container with his shoulder, "Oh this is my exorcism case for all my gear. It might not be all that helpful since there probably aren't any undead or demons here, but it'd be dumber to not take it with me."

"No ..." the mermaid confirmed as she strained her mind to think of any such thing. "They do say the lower levels of the Adrein Peaks are haunted, but it's probably just the waterwind moving through the caverns."

His grin grew impossibly wider, "All the more reason to bring it then!"
Jack started tugging her along the near identical corridors of the ship. Heading this way and that but eventually going down to the lower levels that seemed to be empty for the most part. They eventually arrived at Flower's large and now-empty tank.
At reaching the appropriate room he moved from Marsile and started looking over the various operations of the tank. After repeating the procedure he did for releasing flower, a groaning sound came from the tank.
He eyed the tank and clapped his hands together, "Ok, we just walk up that," he pointed to the stairs that were flanking the tank, "And just d-dive down." He took a gulp to quell his fear, "Nothing to it."

Mairsile blinked and tilted her head in confusion yet again. "You are ... afraid of water?" she asked, understandably unable to fathom the concept.
