John snapped around to face Cylox as his spell was in the casting - immediately realized it for what it was. Obvious use of reality altering magic... Easy to tell that is not a caster from here. He didn't even glance at the mini-explosions that was the dummy - he could hear the sounds of the explosions.
John clapped lightly three times, before he started talking, "Oh? And this, Toriji, what field or fields of magic does he study?"

"It'd be simpler to say what he couldn't do. I've seen him summon up a maelstrom of souls. Souls! It'd eat everything in its path I watched it devour a mountain and reduce it to dust." He was exuberant talking about his friend, one of the only still living ones he had. "This is child's play compared to his magic."

Command Center
“This world is quickly moving to that of one ruled by politics. The people love Carrie but that is because she is fair and just. To keep up this image laws have been made and put into place. All gods are given power by those who believe in them. The more to believe the stronger they become. The more the people like them the more the people tell of her and spread the word of her and the more people to love her. This leads to you because we cannot outright kill you as a soldier of Carrie. You must be given trial and proper punishment. You are also given a chance out. You have taken it and now the event can start earlier. ” Ashal said to the man. She said it as if he should know what she was speaking about and understand. She looked him up and down again she finished.
“You need to disrobe from that ugly armor and wear the proper equipment during your fight for freedom. It is a lightweight armor and you have the choice of your weapon. What kind of weapon would you like?”
---
Outside the Command Building
The female guard looked up at the man and after staring for a moment, shaking her head, and sighing, she spoke. “No can do sir. Carrie said to allow none to enter. You might be able to speak with her later today when she comes out to host the event.”
---
Training Center
Bob took a deep breath while the two spoke. After Cylox spoke he butted in.
“Nice channeling of power but you had to focus so hard and it took too long. You would never be able to do that on the battlefield. Also, that was a poor spectacle, not enough flash. And as for your Torijii friend, well, looks like we know who wears the boots in the relationship.” He finished with a chuckle.

Zaltias ever the soul of courtesy was not pleased at the turn of events but he had seen the possibility and was prepared to deal with it. His face remained set in his gentlemanly smile as he replied to the guard. "I am afraid that what I must discuss is urgent, it pertains to something that could greatly aid Carrie in this war." Thin rivers of despairing emotion flowed from Zaltias' voice to the world around him, a feeling of sadness and woe that the guard would sense even if it didn't have a great effect on her.
Zaltias raised his smooth hand gracefully and in a extended it to shake the guards hand, "Regardless of orders my dear on occasion it is necessary for slight changes in the rules to be made." Zaltias chuckled a rich sound and despite the warmth in the laugh there was still the underlying feeling of despair coming from it.
"Besides I believe that Carrie had made an exception in her orders. Perhaps the Lord of the Immortal despair is mentioned within your orders?" As he said this final statement he subtly attempted to place the thought that he had been exempt from the non admittance rule into her mind.

Unfortuantly for Zaltias, the guard was Elser. Elser looked at the man in the eyes, her brown eyes sparkled and then hardening. Her brow turned her face into a scowl and she said, bluntly, "No."
Elser had leathery skin and thin white hair cut closely to her scalp. Her face seemed to bear a frown or scowl even when it remained in a neutral state. She had the bearings of a person in charge and she seemed to brush off his suggestion without even knowing it. Her determination to her Goddess was unwavering, a steel wall that prevented her from going against Carrie's orders, no matter what.

Zaltias still did not show the anger that began to bubble up a bit inside of him, it was not often that he was met with no response to his manipulation, especially from common guards and others of that nature. He though had many tricks to gain entrance and he had barely tried any of them. "Think about this if you will, suppose I have information that Carrie needs, suppose I gain entrance anyway and tell her what trouble you have caused me in entering. I do not wish any unpleasantness my friend and simply wish to go about my business."
His hand lowered and suddenly held an ornate long sword in it. A sword that was black with silver veins running through it. A glowing baleful eye gleamed from where the pommel should have been. Zaltias held the sword in a distinctly unthreatening manner. This time when he spoke it was more with the sense of someone getting down to business "Look" he said smoothly "I could kill you, I could consign you to almost eternal torment, but there is no reason for me to do so." he paused again. "Can we kindly avoid a conflict as" Zaltias gestured to the disarray of the room, "It looks like there has been to much of it already here today?"

*Outside the Command Center*
Elser's scowl got unthinkably deeper as she took an audiable deep breath. It was audible because the air around them began to stir violently. When she exhaled it brushed against Zaltias non-threatingly but enough to say, ' I'm no lightweight.'
"I'll say this once more" Elser started slowly, " NO ONE is allowed inside. Not you, not Remer, not even Qualon itself. No MEANS no." She placed her hands on her hips and and gave him a look that dared him to try and push his way through.
Upon hearing her raise her voice two more captains came out from behind the wall, each bearing a short sword with ease. They stood a ways behind and aside from Elser but they were close enough to get there in time if they were needed.

"If that is the way things must be then let them be. Never let it be said I enjoyed the slaughter of innocents when their blood did not wet my alters. Though I am not believing that you are innocents, no far from it." Zaltias chuckled the deep, rich, echoing sound again. He turned as if to leave then stopped and turned back as Fear's Razor vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.
"But before I depart from this place kindly do one small service for me, inform Carrie that Zaltias Lord of the Immortal Despair wishes to speak with her at this event." Zaltias took a bow and then his form faded out. He became one with the world, the air around the command center suddenly seemed heavier and laden with gloom. This feeling would be obvious even to a shielded mind. Then slowly the feeling faded.
*Training center*
Zaltias appeared along with the same feeling of oppressive heavy despair that had accompanied him before. One moment he had not been there than the next he seemed to have faded in. The elegant being chuckled to himself again as he overheard the last little bit of the discussion of spells and power.
"May I show my hand?" He said with a half smile on his pale bluish tinted face. Without waiting for an answer he raised one of his elegantly smooth and slender hands and the final dummy suddenly convulsed upon itself. After being compressed as far as was possible it was then ripped apart by slight motions of Zaltias' fingers. He took a bow and then looked at those he had addressed.

Bob would proboably be shocked to find that five razor sharp claws were pressed to his neck. "Think you're funny, huh?" His fingers flexed a bit and the claws pinched inward. "I suppose they'll frow upon killing or harming anyone too badly, so I'll let you live." He yanked his hand away and retracted his claws. "Don't assume that all of my spells are so long-winded either."

"This armor is the result of my chosen weapon," he answered directly, squaring his shoulders as he glared down at her. "I'll not be removing it, and I'd like to see you try to make me. Not that ticking me off would be a good idea. I was content to slaughter your enemies in exchange only for you pointing me toward them. You really don't want me thinking I'll have more opportunities down other venues. I hold no overt loyalty to you or your makeshift goddess. Just because you have soldiers that sign on to fight, that doesn't mean they worship the ground you walk on."
Jeff turned to leave, muttering under his breath, "Arrogant bitch pisses me off ..."

*Outside Command Center*
“Tch” Elser look changed from displeasure to annoyance as the man left. Everyone wanted in but they were always too scared to barge in. She grunted to herself and returned to her position.
*Command Center*
There was a slight rumble and the floor of the hallway rose abruptly and sealed off the exit with a loud crash.
"They don't worship the ground I walk on, soldier." Ashal spoke to him, half turning back to the balcony where Carrie now was. "They worship the ground she commands."
Carrie waited for Ashal to finish before speaking. Her voice was harsh, threatening and carried the silent strength of confidence held behind it. "You have chosen to fight. You are to follow the rules of Combat. You are to wear the required clothing. If your chosen weapon results in an inability to wear the required armor, you are to choose a default type weapon. Sword, dagger, bow, or spear. Also, as your status is now that of a prisoner, further insolence towards your commanding officer will not be tolerated. Do you understand prisoner?"

There was a noticeable ripple of magical energy through Bob’s robe as Cylox approached. Bob’s face showed shock for a split second but he was battle trained and had enough time to try to take a half step back. Cylox still got to him though. He smiled his smile all the while Cylox taunted him. Small bits of energy arced up like electricity to Cylox’s claws but did nothing. It was all part of a slew of defensive spells Bob had. One word would transfer enough energy through his body and into Cylox to kill him through various means.
As Cylox pulled away Bob breathed easier but just couldn’t help himself from saying aloud, mockingly “Kitty’s got claws.”
So busy was Bob with Cylox that he didn’t notice Zaltias. Alex was also busy deciding what to do that he didn’t notice either. Some of the other lower mages saw him though. After his display one or two looked at the newcomer with a look of astonishment. Some only barely caught it and didn’t know what was going on, and the rest were watching to see what Bob and Cylox would do.

Zaltias had now begun to become annoyed. He had been unable to speak with Carrie and his demonstration had been overtaken by these two squabblers. Behind his gentlemanly facade he was steaming. He would though continue the charade for the moment. Besides he thought and smiled inside, Perhaps I can gain something from the admiration of these fools.
He spoke to the few who payed attention to him. "You likely cannot learn to do what I can do but I can show you many things. Zaltias moved his hand again and Fear's razor appeared in it again. He then gestured a farewell to the mages and the other few who were watching him to pay attention as he walked towards the group who were squabbling.
His smooth and potently powerful voice echoed from directly behind Bob and company. "Forgive me for intruding, but I seek some information, and a few other things. If you would be so kind as to provide me with what I request, I assure you it will be much appreciated.

The hairs on Cylox's head bristled at the second taunt. No man had ever lived to see the second one hit home. He turned with a rage in his eyes that would burn the planet to ash were he a more powerful being. Cylox had a nasty disposition already and as his inhibitions fell away he was just psychotic. The claws reappeared once more as he swelled up to his actual size. "Rin, Cho!" He motioned with his hands as if some sort of projectile would fly from them. But the spell was actually that of a cloning technique. The clone found himself right behind Bob and jabbed with deadly force, speed, and accuracy at the base of his skull just as his brawny arm had formed.

Zaltias emotion effecting aura and magic usage didn't trigger any response from John, it was a less immediate of a concern than Bob and Cylox's fighting - and the aura had no effect on John's mind, it rolled off of his mind which was protected by ancient reality bending magic designed to protect and revitalize John's body, mind, and soul from the wears of time and the afflictions of illness and insanities, which oddly also provided a resistance to attempts to meddle with his emotional state. Not enough to outright stop a direct assault, but enough to stop an aura that subtly implanted it constantly.
While John had been remaining out of the exchange out of a lack of need to get involved - Cylox's grip on Bob's throat, the crackle of energy, and then Cylox's response, John got involved. As Cylox filled with rage and words escaped his mouth, John's focus intensified as he said one word, "Văd." The word was Romanian for see, but at the same moment, he saw Cylox's energy travel through the air in his spell and the clone coming into being, and he did the first spell that came to mind - conjuring a wall of ice.
His hand flicked up, and energy rippled in the air around him as his hand lashed out and the wave that followed it - everyone would see the effect; since the ice took no time as it divided Cylox's clone from Bob, and stretched onward past them.
To those of Qualon it would probably seem to be a rapid spell that froze the moisture in the air so rapidly that it was almost unreal, but those from off-world with knowledge of conjuration magic would see it as it really was, a rapid conjuration of a wall of ice.
[ooc]Well, techincally Văd is "I see," but meh.[/ooc]

"Oh, sure, I could wear whatever the hell you ladies get off on, but when I morph, this is what's there, and since my morpher is my chosen weapon now and forever, I guess you two bitches are just going to have to deal."
Jeff hadn't stopped walking toward the exit even with the barrier of stone and tile in the way. Instead, he drew his blaster and fired upon it as he walked, the weapon easily having enough force to blow a hole in the wall.
