"One of the first times we crossed paths," Jef explained, "you and your friends told me there would probably be times when you didn't recall some things. This must be one of those times. Not to worry, though. If you are indeed here by the will of the Songbird, all will become clear in time."
"And Lucifer means Child of the Dawn," Nayra corrected.
Looking over to the blue girl, however, the king addressed her directly for the first time, a wide smile going over his face. "Nayra! I see the Oracle's Seal has not caused you any more pain," he commented, motioning toward the brand on her forehead as she put her hand over it, feeling it in confusion. "I wish to introduce you to someone."
As if on cue, a younger man, probably in his early twenties, came out. He wore an outfit similar to the king, though with a ruby color scheme, and his hair was thick and dark.
Putting his hand behind the young man's back, Jef ushered him toward Nayra. "Nayra, this is my son, Prince Leolus. Leolus, this is Nayra Sturiesk, the one I told you about."
Leolus looked Nayra over appraisingly, while the blue-haired girl just blinked in confusion. "You were right, Father, she is everything you said she was."
Jef suddenly scowled, bringing his hand down on his son's arm. "You are royalty, Leolus. You are to conduct yourself in a mannerly and respectable manner. That does not include speaking in such a manner about a lady, nor doing so as if she were not present."
Leolus' expression was momentarily pained - apparently, his father's grip was notably tight - and after its release, he dipped his head apologetically to the girl. "My apologies. I have never seen someone such as you, and I allowed myself to get carried away."
Nayra dipped her head in response. Dealing with dignitaries was something she was evidently familiar with - and moreso with said dignitaries attempting to introduce her to their eldest unwed sons. The reflection of the similarity was enough to bring a small, polite smile to her face. "You are forgiven, Prince Leolus. I thank you for the compliment, regardless of its delivery."

Dominic smiled. "Thank you ...Narya, was it? I do not recognize the name origins... Where are you from?" He crossed over, with a wave to Leolus. He was feeling a little better about all this, but frowned at the mentions He shook it away to the back of his mind, and turned back towards Narya. "Are you perhaps from one of the American Colonies?"

"Not exactly," the girl replied, frowning in some confusion at the question. "I -am- from America, but it hasn't been a colony for over three hundred years."

"Has not been a colony for three-hundred years? They have only started colonizing recently haven't they?" Dominic said, his voice now the one with confusion in it. "Are you from on of the native tribes that live there?"

The blue-haired girl scowled in confusion. "What are you, from the 1500s?"

"Noo.. Last year was 1724. What are you, from the future?" Dominic repleid back with a matching look on his face. " They had started the colonizing recently in America."

"Actually, it would seem that you're from the past." Jake interrupted, somehow popping into the conversation as if he were always there. The boy kept walking, looking away nervously and wandering towards a food table.

Nayra randomly turned to one of the others, True, and pointed at her. "What year is it?"

Velia was confused, to say the least.
First of all, she'd completely lost track of what was going on. This...'Jef' seemed to be assuring them that they were alive, even though that was quite impossible. Even if she were alive--where was Calypso? Calypso would never let her go off by herself, unless this man was a friend of hers, which she doubted. He did make her nervous for some reason, especially whenever he mentioned that 'Songbird', but he didn't look like the type that would be depraved as so many of Calypso's friends were.
And then that strange man (Dominic) had to go and mention Calypso's name. That wouldn't have been so bad--well, it would have, but it would at least have been understandable--but the way he referred to her made it seem like she was some sort of god, which she most definitely was not.
And now he and the blue-haired girl were arguing about the time, and the blue-haired girl had asked the strange stomach-poking girl about it, and--well, it was awfully distressing. Velia could make no sense of any of it. As far as she remembered, it was the seventeenth year after the Great Divide, a Solar Year, somewhere in the middle of the Month of Water. What in Sharadas was this...1724 business?
Well. They were most likely from other worlds.
Clearing her throat, the young woman stepped up to Jef suddenly, eyes downcast, wringing her hands nervously as she stuttered, "A-ah...Excuse me, Sir...I just...I don't understand. This...this isn't Heaven? I'm not dead?"

"It's 2004!" True exclaimed with a surprised jump, happy to be of service. "And also August! But that's not a year. It's a month."

The king nodded to confirm what the blue-haired girl had concluded. "It would, indeed, seem that the Songbird pulled you from different times, not that, for a Being beyond the reach of Time, that would be difficult. I am afraid I can't tell you what time you are in comparatively, unfortunately, and for that, I apologize. As I said before, Veshet's calendar system does not seem to be comparable to any of yours."
Before an answer could be given, a great rumble filled the air. Jef glanced about with the rest of the people in the ballroom, then bowed to them one more time. "It is time. Excuse us."
Leonus dipped his head, as well, and followed his father as they made their way back through the crowd and to the stage, where a girl dressed in red, apparently another member of the royal family, joined them. The entire room fell silent as the lights went out.
A glow appeared in the middle of the stage, fluxuating for several moments. These moments seemed to drag on, but held the attention of the audience. The golden glow seemed to gradually take shape, fading away so slowly that by the time it was gone, the woman in the wide red gown drew far less gasps than she likely would have if her appearance had been sudden.
Her body was very gifted with an excellent form, full of eye-enticing curves, though they were all tastefully covered. Rich, oaken locks flowed down from behind her head and the vanilla skin of her neck. Her face, however, was covered by an expressionless mask. This was apparenty not a necessity, as the crowd immediately seemed to recognize her as the queen.
She moved toward the front of the stage, her walk graceful and smooth. "So many ... So many of you have come to welcome me in my return from my pilgrimage," she stated softly, though with enough force that it carried to them all. "I am deeply honored by your thoughts and consideration. Please forgive the use of this mask. I have not yet fully recovered from my encounter with the Songbird. I assure you, however, that by tomorrow morning, I shall be as well as I have ever been."

Dominic nodded slowly as he stared at the woman. "So we are welcoming her..." He said under his breath, wondering if the vixen was going to prove to be just that, a vixen. He continued listening, although his mind was drifting more to the fact he was in another world, with people from different time periods.

Velia had paled at the appearance of the queen, the same strange feeling she got from Jef coming from this woman, too--but with far greater intensity. A mask, why was she wearing a mask? Masks scared her, masks blocked emotion. What was this Songbird, that it had caused this woman to wear a mask? Had her face been...deformed, hurt? Surely the mask wasn't for decoration; she'd said herself that it wasn't. But...but...
She didn't like masks.
"What...what's the 'Songbird'?" The question came out a whisper, probably unconscious. Whether or not it was heard by the others around her she didn't know or notice; one thousand questions had begun to surface in her mind, and she couldn't answer any of them.

"I think it might be their deity." Cassandra answered, having been close enough to hear. She leaned down a little so that she was closer. "Y'know, their god." She said. "But clearly something with some sort of power, if she actually does need that mask."
Oh, but what sort of face is she hiding?
Bleh, its probably just some pimple or something like that that she's freaking over.
Y'know, not ALL of us freak out over that stuff, it probably actually is some sort of deforming injury.
That would heal up over the course of one night?
In all fairness, we don't know what sort of healing technology they have.
Psh, whatever. But I do have to admit, the Kings a lucky man.
Definitely.
Agreed.
Wait, was that the right inner voice?
Well, well, well, it's about time you came around, Fem.
Oh shut up... I didn't know I said that out loud...

While applause filled the room at the queen's speech, the little girl in the burgundy velvet dress stared right across the crowd, right at Cassandra, but she remained still and expressionless.
