After getting the forge warmed up, Taxen worked carefully. The quality of the materials were not great, so he had to make sure that his work was quality enough otherwise the entire piece would be a complete and utter failure. First step was creating the moulds for the bullet casings and the more complex firing pieces fire arm parts. He used the best pieces of steel from his own personal collection to make the moulds. This was the hard part, and no mould would be perfect. chances are he would have to modify the pieces after they came out of the mould.
After assembling the cartridge mould, the switch chamber mould, and the trigger module mould, he simply needed to creat the casts for them. Pouring the melted metals inside, he forged each piece delecatly. There was only one inconvenience, he didnt have a release agent. He noticed that there was an intact mould of a longsword blade, if he looked around, he perchance could find a chemical release agent necessary to get the cooling steel off of the moulds. If not, he'd end up with a single piece of steel again, ruining his choice mouldings. Yeah, destroying the moulds would be bad.
After a bit of searching, he eventually found an alchemical solution he assumed to be the release agent. He took a gamble, but assumed correctly, it was the release agent. He removed the pieces a tad early from the moulding, and then went to work with a small hammer, molding each piece into proper positioning to be placed when the shell of the weapon was complete.

Aelthas was busy watching people come and go, almost in a world of his own as he relaxed, a small smile on his face. Eventually he noticed the barmaid staring at him ready to take his order and he grinned and blushed in embarrassment. "I do apologize m'lady." He bowed his head and looked around, "Yes, I would like a room and a meal please, for the meal I would like the special this evening along with a pitcher of water and a mug as long as it is no trouble." He watched as the newcomer in the hat went into the back with the barkeep and then the barkeep emerged alone, "Hmm...must be a friend of his..." He thought quietly.

*Aelthas*
"Right away, sir," she nodded and hurried away to take care of the order. Since it was the special, this came back much faster than Renee's special order, and the paladin was soon left to enjoy his meal.
*Taxen*
By the time he got to the individual parts, it was getting on pretty late, and the door to the inn opened to permit Cornelius' daughter, carrying a platter of ale and cold beef cuts. "Taxen?" she asked, apparently having gotten the name from her father. "Father told me to bring you something to eat."

He lightly tapped at the switch box mechanism, molding the heated metal to just the right shape. He always thought that these were the hardest to do, make it too big or awkwardly shaped and it wont turn, make it too small and it'll spin crookedly.
"Taxen!" A voice exclaimed form behind him, he turned momentarily to see that it was the master craftsman. "Taxen! You need to work faster on those switchboxes, those are the most critical part for that model of small arm!"
"Yes sir." Taxen replied, continuing his work.
"I know you've been under my wing for awhile now, but eventually I'm gonna have to kick you outta the nest, and if you cant perfect something as simple as a military styled switcher, then there wont be much hope for you boy. The craftsman lectured as he watched Taxen toil.
"Yes sir." Taxen replied, the Craftsman suddenly turned and left. The relationship with the Craftsman was love hate, but still he was good, and Taxen had learned a lot from him. Not to mention, he liked the career path, fun stuff forging fire arms was. A few moments later the Craftsman returned.
"Taxen..." He said in quieter voice. This tone of voice, startled Taxen far more than he had ever heard the Craftsman speak, even when he was in a furious rage. Taxen turned to the Craftsman, who stood in the doorway holding an envelope sealed with the insignia of the Imperial Military. It was obvious that it was for Taxen and what it was; a commandment for immediate military service.
"Taxen?" The Craftsman spoke... but... it didnt seem right... sounded more... feminine? Wait...
================================================
"Father told me to bring you something to eat." Cornelius' daughter spoke. Taxen at that point awoke form his daydreaming. First thing he did was check the switchbox he was working on, it looked fine, almost done. Good thing, he'd hate to have to start over because he was daydreaming again. The meal sounded enticing, but at this stage in his work. he could not stop, not until the interior pieces were molded exactly to his specifications. After this step he could, but not before. Turning back to his work using a tiny hammer and set of plier, he began reshaping the tiny casing switch mechanism to his final specifications. As he worked, he spoke to the daughter
"How much do I owe your father?"

"He didn't say anything about a price," she answered with a shrug as she set the tray down. "I assumed you had already paid for it."

"Well, if he wants payment, he's going to have to tell me what I owe him for the food." Taxen muttered allowed for the daughter to hear. "If I dont owe him, tell him I said thanks... I guess." Taxen continued then motioned over to the table where his coat and hat rested. "Just put it over there, I'll get to it when I get the chance." And with that, he went back to molding the switchbox.

Aelthas smiled as he was brought his food and thanked the daughter. He ate slowly and savored the taste of the food, he hadn't eaten a real hot meal for three tendays. When he'd finished he rose from the table and gathered his plate and the pitcher along with his mug, approaching the bar and setting them down. "Thank you for the meal." He bowed his head slightly and pulled out his coin pouch, "How much for the meal and a room for the night?"--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OOCSpot Check to keep an eye on his backpack: 1d20+2 = 13+4 = 17Listen Check for the hell of it while I'm here: 1d20+2 = 11+4 = 15Also activating my Detect Evil as I look, not for any other reason than to satisfy my curiosity Don't worry, I'm not gonna pull a "Miko". Sidenote: My Sheet says I get a +6 to Spot and Listen but I can't work out where the extra +2 comes from so I'm guessing it's a mistake.

*Taxen*
Ariel nodded, smiled and put the platter down where she was told and left him to his devices. As he was finishing up, however, it was getting pretty late. At least Cornelius had had the forethought to send him cold cuts, so it wasn't too bad.
(Roll a listen check, Kainus.)
*Aelthas*
The bartender arched an eyebrow as the paladin brought his stuff back up. "Y'know, we'll clear your table for you, right?" he asked, but shook his head. "Price depends on if you want our continental breakfast in the morning. Ten silver if you do, five if you don't. The special's three pieces either way."

You hear some whispering nearby, in the direction of an alley that runs adjacent to the scrap yard, but can't make out any specific details.

*Renee*
The top heavy girl sat and ate her waybread and fruit slowly, enjoying every bit of it almost completely oblivious to the outside world. Should a battle or fight have broken out behind her back, she till wouldn't have noticed most likely. Very early into her meal, she passed out momentarily but remained held up by her arms and chest on the table.
*Dream*
Renee passed through a vortex of color only to appear on large ship, swaying to the waves as the wind and rain from a heavy storm beating down on her and the ship. It's sails rolled up to the top to prevent it from being so far off course while members of the ship's crew were bailing water that was being thrown over the edge by large waves.
"Anoushka... What does this mean?" She scanned the ship taking in the details of it all. All the people on the ship were the fragments her mind had pulled up of the people inside the tavern--not that she'd know. One of them caught, it was a beautiful oriental woman from before--her goddess. Despite all the rain, wind, and water flying everywhere, the goddess was standing undisturbed by the air and the water wouldn't touch her. Everyone was rushing around her working on the ship, completely ignoring her.
"Anoushka, Goddess of Dreams... What is all of this?" She sweeps her arm gesturing to all of the ship including the storm as it rained and threw lightning into the distance.
"It is change my daughter. You must stand strong in the times to come, no matter the cost. You must control yourself, and you will grow for it. Do not lose faith."
Then everything grew black and she was sitting at the table in the inn her food in front of her still.
*Inn*
She finished her food, silently pondering her dream and enjoying the thoughts of lemon cookies. She really wanted some. When she finished eating, she signaled for the barkeeps daughter, Ariel.
When either the barkeep or his daughter arrived, she'd compliment the food and request a room for the night.
(OOC: The day dream/narcopletic attack is my explanation for the nat. 1 listen check. The dream is just the first scene that came to mind so didn't really have any point.) Listen check while eating. Natural 1 + 4 = -6. Knowledge (Dream Interpretation) while day dreaming. 16+1=17.

(I'll ask you each for a listen check as it was needed. At the moment, only Kainus needed to roll one. Veros, Renee was forwarded to the barkeeper for reserving a room and received the same pricing as Aethlas. If you two are proceeding to your rooms, please do so, and I'll wrap up this scene with Kainus and we can progress to the next part.)

Time passes as Taxen toils away at the fire arm. Finishing the firearms more complex pieces, he was then able to move onto the physical part of the swords. It wasn't too hard, just fill the mould, and nail the pieces back together. Eventually he was able to fully assemble the fire arm. While letting it cool and finish, he began assembling several bullets. He was eventually able to assemble XX bullets, they werent too hard to make. He even had some spare blasting powder to fill them with.
Everything seemed to be working out nicely. Taking the empty fire arm he pulled the trigger. Pulling once fired, pulling a second time, opened the switch mechanism, for loading another round into the chamber. At this point there was not much more he could do. The weapon was of poor quality, but it would suffice. It was at that moment, he could have sworn he heard whispering. Whispering by itself was bad, usually holding some form of negative connotation, the will to not be caught, you know what you are talking about will get you in trouble. He realized that there was an alleyway next to the building, which is probably the source of the whispers. Whispering in an alleyway? That was bad.
Taxen moved up to a wall closest to the alleyway, closest to the whispers, and attempted to hear the conversation. He probably wouldnt be able to hear them if they kept whispering, but if they spoke up, he may just be able to catch a word or two. As he listened, he kept his eyes on the door to the bar, didnt want anyone coming in and getting suspicious.
(Listen Check: dice roll of 1 +4 = 5)
As Taxen moved up to the wall, he accidently tripped on a piece of coal he had missed, and ended up bumping his head against the wall. Swearing quietly to himself he moved away from the wall rubbing his head, it stung but wasnt a serious injury.

Aelthas smiled slightly and simply shrugged his shoulders at the barkeep's comment. "I was coming to the bar anyway my friend." His smile grew slightly broader as his golden eyes glowed slightly stronger as he scanned the room. "I'll take a room but I'll pass on the breakfast" He reached into his belt pouch and pulled out a gold coin, placing it on the countertop. "Do not worry about the change."
