*Aelthas*
"Thank ye kindly," the bartender answered in gratitude as he passed the paladin a key with a room number. "Enjoy."
*Taxen*
His stumble startled a cat, which let out a cry and leaped away from the black bird it had pinned, which hurriedly flew away, as well. That was probably the source of the whispers. Mystery solved, and it was getting late. If he wanted to get a decent start in the morning, it was time to turn in.

*Renee*
"I'll take it with the continental breakfast, please," she says with a large smile on her face as her hair partly blocking the sides of her face. "Oh! How much does that bring my total up to?" She reaches down and pulls a few golden coins from inside her shirt--probably from within her under garments.
After she pays off her balance, she leaves the change from the smallest amount of gold coins to pay for it all as a tip before heading to her room for the night. Arriving in her room, she changed into just her under garments and knelt before the bed in prayer before finally turning out for bed.

Taxen backed away from the wall, hearing the scuffle of animals outside. Was that all it was? Really? No, there had to be more than that... his paranoia said otherwise, but logic finally won out. Shaking his head he went about cleaning up the forge. He wanted to test the fire arm, but there would be time for that tomorrow. In the meantime, he needed to get sleep. Putting on his coat and hat, he took the plate which once held the cold cuts walked back towards the front bar. Placing the plate on the counter, he simply said.
"Thanks. Now I need a room, what are going rates?"

"Five silver for a room, ten if you want the continental breakfast in the morning," Cornelius answered, but there was a light of curiosity in his eyes. "Did you finish? Can I see it?"

Aelthas thanked the barkeep for the meal again and took the key offered to him. He passed a figure in an odd had but took no more notice than that before ascending the stairs to his room. Opening the door he smiled, dropping his pack beside the door with a small thud as he closed and locked the room. Removing his gloves, he rubbed his weary eyes and began to remove the rest of his scale armour.
"A night in a bed will be a welcome relief." He smiled slightly and opened the window, letting the cool evening air blow in and alleviate some of the heat. "Much better," he said sitting on the bed and kicking off his boots. He lay back, still clothed in a linen shirt and woolen pants and soon fell into a deep sleep, snoring softly.

Taxen reached into his coin pouch for the silver he would need. Five was fine, he didnt need to throw any more money at this place, already he was out a gold piece. Looking up slightly when the barkeep asked to see the project he was working on, he hesitated for a moment. He decided it couldnt do much harm, the man gave him free food, why not? Reaching into his coat, he pulled the weapon from out of its holster, and placed it upon the table. The weapon wasnt loaded, sleeping with a loaded weapon is bad. He placed the contraption onto the table, opening up the load chamber and placing a bullet next to the weapon.
"Functions similarly to that of a crossbow. Only difference is this is fired through an explosive reaction, jettisoning the round at high speeds. It's loud, but it's destructive." Taxen noted explaining the weapon to the barkeep.

"I imagine so ..." Cornelius agreed with the description of loud but destructive as he looked the contraption over. "Fascinating. How did you come up with such a device, if I could ask?"

"I didn't. I mean, the blueprints are mine, but the weapon design is simply from me memorizing the Mayers Model military issue. Of course, I had to shave off several components as the materials here weren't suffice for the double barrel nor clockwork mechanisms... sorry, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about." Taxen began to explain, his voice shifting from excited explanation to bland disapointed realization.

"I know what a clockwork is," he encouraged, "and I can guess with pretty good accuracy what you mean by double barrel. Please, go on."

Taxen was a bit nervous at this aspect. This man had a great interest in something that did not seem to fit his persona. Sure, he looked like he had a military background and knew a bit about tinkering, but he didn’t quite like the idea that someone was so extremely fascinated. Taxen didn’t want to be rude though, but he couldn’t help but feel suspicious of the barkeep, did he know something?
“Not much to tell other than that.” Taxen explained, bringing the topic steadily to a close. “It’s based of military design adapted for long term use. Doesn’t need to be cleaned as often, but has a more difficult to use reload mechanism. That’s about it of this model.” Taxen explained.

"Huh ..." Cornelius answered as he took all that in. "Well, thank you for taking the time to explain it to a curious mind." He reached back and took a key off the wall, tossing it to the Scout. "Here, stay on the house tonight. My treat as thanks."
(Taxen receives his room free of charge and Kainus receives a RP Point for explaining the workings of his pistol, and a second one for going to all the description of crafting it.)

No sooner had the paladin exited the field of the barkeep's vision, a pair of rather large antennae were darting by, their owner obscured by the counter inbetween it and the barkeeper. A greyish blue, chitinous hand suddenly reached up, grasping and tugging at the counter. The hand suddenly released though, and the antennae shook as though the owner was shaking its head. There was a string of odd movements, and then suddenly a small humanoid - its body as chitinous as its hands and just barely covered with assorted belts and straps - had somehow backflipped its way onto one of the barstools. The insectile being raised its arms and then spoke in a surprisingly loud voice.
"Everyone! Your attention please! Today, today, my fellow travelers, is your lucky day! You may ask me, "praytell, Dromite, what in the nine hells would make you say that?" and so, I shall tell you! A round of drinks would!" The creature's hand darted for a small pouch hanging from his myriad of belts and promptly dropped it behind him, not even watching as the bag clinked and jingled upon landing on the counter. "A round of drinks, my friends, that comes to you courtesy of myself and the church of Zuoken! LET US DRINK TO A PROSPEROUS FUTURE!"

The room erupted in cheers at the little creature's speech, and apparently, it really raised some hearts, as a few came up to him and started asking about Zuoken.

The Dromite merely took a few scarce moments to bow in response to the cheering, and then he was sitting down on the stool, his large, compound eyes glittering from the light of the room and his arms resting upon his knees. The small humanoid leaned forward amicably, looking for all the world as though he valued nothing more than his small audiance's company. "Well, gather 'round, children, and Xolu Nikech'll tell you all you need to know about old Zuoken while those drinks go about." The little creature smiled wryly as he began to talk, which was clearly one of his most beloved things in the world to do. "You see, way, way long ago, Zuoken was like you and me. Or more specifically, like.... eeeeh...." Xolu cut himself off, humming in concentration as his pointed finger trailed over the heads of his audiance. "Ah, like you there, sir!" He said cheerfully, now jabbing his finger towards a male human in the group. "Yes, Zuoken was a human man, just like you, sir! And a mighty fine man, at that, too! You see, Zuoken was a martial artist, a monk, if you will. I'm sure all of us here can respect such an impressive pursuit, right? Ah, but Zuoken wasn't just any monk. But of course, that's obvious! If he were your everyday, garden variety monk, he wouldn't exactly be a god now, now would he?" Xolu exclaimed, chuckling at his own comments.
"You see, Zuoken was a man of great determination and will. He was very serious about his training. And he didn't just train his body, friends. He also trained..." The dromite lowered his body a little, and his voice dropped in volume as well, as if he was dispensing a great secret. His hand came up to his head, and his finger prodded his head in emphasis as he continued. "Right... up... here." Xolu grinned as he straightened back up. "Zuoken was a psion as well, you see. And a mind is as great a weapon as any psion could hope for! So Zuoken trained mind, body, and also his soul. "But dearest Xolu," you probably ask, "how could a man possibly train his soul?" Well, to be very honest, I don't quite know!" Xolu said, throwing his head back and laughing merrily. "After all, if I did, I'd probably be with the fellow right now!"
The dromite calmed down, casually smiling as he contined. "Of course, even if we do not know how to quite yet, in our youthful ignorance, I'm sure we can all agree that the concept of honing one's very spirit is something we can all hope to achieve at some time in our life, and our good friend Zuoken is out there, willing to take us in if we are willing to try! This is Zuoken's creed, to achieve perfection in both body and mind! And achieve them he did! In fact, that is why he is a god now. The lovely goddess Xan Yae, perhaps you have heard of her, the Lady of Perfection? Regardless of whether or not you know her, she knew Zuoken very well! She was so enamoured with Zuoken's pure, flawless body and mind, in fact, that she took it upon herself to elevate the man to the heights of divinity!"
Xolu relaxed his body a little. "And that, my friends, is how Zuoken became a god. At the moment, however, he's very young as far as gods go, and his temples are few and far between. However, most of his followers actually favour this. After all, the pursuit of a serene, disciplined mind is something that can be best done... how to put it... without excessive distractions? Most of the time, you'll only see a follower of Zuoken out and about if he's on a mission to defend the psionic races of the world, like us Dromites." Xolu patted his chest in explanation. "But we're all good people seeking a noble goal, are we not? So if you happen to see a follower of Zuoken in your travels, be sure to give them a warm welcome and wish them well on their quest to enlightenment."
The dromite raised his arms in finality. "And that, my friends, is all I know about Zuoken... slightly embellished by yours truly, of course."

"Yeah, no trouble." Taxen replied to the barkeep's thanks. Snatching the key in mid air, he nodded again, his own silent thanks. He then proceeded to the stairway and climbed up to the second floor. He was shortly able to find his room. Opening the door, the room was a bit barren, but it didnt matter; it was free! Taking a moment to make himself at home, he decided that it would be a good idea to double check the weapon before he turned in for the night. There was always the chance someone would knife him in his sleep, and he needed to be prepared.
