There was a flurry of noise from the assembled patrons listening eagerly at the dromite's little feet before one finally made himself heard over the rest. "Where is the nearest temple, lad, so that we might explore service to your god with greater intent?"

"Well, like I said, the temples of Zuoken are few and far between, and they maintain an effort to stay out of the public eye." Xolu said. "I don't know if I can give you the location of the nearest temple, but the temple that I've come from is east of here, down the trail, many days' worth of travel. Eventually you'll come across a great mound of earth, its height reaching up to the sky. That, my friend, is one of the many fine hive cities what we Dromite live in. The residents of this particular city owe a great deal to Zuoken's monks. Ask the Dromites there, tell them Xolu Nikech sent you. I'm sure they'll happily point you in the right direction, friends."

There was more talking, but it was amongst themselves and soon it was time to close down the bar for the night and the patrons idled out the door or up to their rooms, the dromite to the latter, and soon the little one was fast asleep ...
(Alrighty, it's what everyone's been waiting for! Everybody roll Reflex!)

Everyone but Renee woke up to the choking smell of smoke and the odd, flickering light of fire coming through their windows. Screams pierced the night air at random intervals, then are cut short just as quickly. The rooms are hot like ovens and they have just enough time to suit back up and grab their things.
Renee, however, was so deep in sleep that she went completely undisturbed until the flames reached up and tickled her feet. Painfully.
(Everyone's up and Renee takes three points of fire damage. The village is burning and under attack. You need to get out of the inn.)

(Renee's hp 8/11 left.) (Will save vs Narcolepsy Nat 20)
*Renee*
Renee kicks around in bed, tossing in her sleep to the smoke and heat experiencing a nightmare of a being trapped outside in the blistering heat of a desert. Her nightmarish fit causes her to kick the covers away from her, and she continues sleeping until the fire reaches to her feet and burns her jerking her awake with a scream of pain.
"Anoushka bless!" She rolls away from the flames and quickly stuffs her items into her cleave and throws on her clothes including her boots before running to the door flinching in pain from the new burns on her feet.
By her door she grabs her staff at the door and begins to head out the room, planning to make her way out through the entrance of the inn.

Aelthas awoke coughing and spluttering, his room quickly filling up with smoke. leaping from his bed he slipped his boots on and quickly shoved on his armour. He grabbed his pack and slung it over his shoulder, picking up his scabbard and shield as he made for the door.
Opening it he found the inn full of smoke making it difficult to see. Keeping his head low he made his way through the inn down the stairs, his eyes streaming from the smoke.

Taxen awoke with a start, ready to blow off the head of the first person he saw, good thing nobody was present in his room. Coming to his senses he realized he was not under attack, or at least not directly. Dropping to the floor to avoid breathing in too much smoke, he quickly and hastily donned his leather armor and threw on his armored great coat and hat. Next, he armed himself, keeping his fire arm in one hand and his short sword in another. Once he had everything he needed, he did not immediately make his way to the door, he peeked out the window to find out exactly what was going on. If there were people outside trying to smoke him out, running out like a madman would be a sure way to get himself killed. It would only take a moment. Peeking out, he saw that there was more fire outside, but at random locations. It was a raid, random attack hopefully, very little chance he was the target. That's good.
Turning form the window Taxen made his way out of the room, down the stairs, and out of the inn, making sure to keep his head low as to not inhale any of the smoke. As he exited the inn, he still had his weapons drawn, ready for battle at the drop of a hat, be it his own or someone else.

The choke-filled lower level of the inn, the tavern which had been the occupied space of the small village's farmers and skillsmen unwinding from a day of harvesting, smithing and various other labors, was now empty as far as any of them could tell. The raid must have been very sudden, or the party had been fortunate (or unfortunate) to have slept through the initial strikes.

Coughing and covering his mouth, Aelthas made his way through the burning inn, trying not to inhale the smoke as he headed for the exit, weaving around and past tables and chairs and trying not to fall.

Xolu's antennae had picked up the smell that choked the air, and the Dromite immediately awoke, bolting out of bed. It didn't take him long at all to put two and two together. The small traveler's heroic instincts took over almost immediately. He gave a quick runover of his person, making sure all of his belongings were in order before making a mad dash towards the window of his room and leaping out of it, landing on the ground below and surveying his surroundings.

*Xolu*
Almost immediately upon landing, two men twice the size of the insect approached him with grins on their faces. "Well, well, what have we here? A little buggy! Hey, Sam, what do you say we see what kind of money he has on him?"
*Others*
The village resembled less of a raid and more of a warzone. Here and there, corpses dotted the streets and bandits run amok. Those near them noticed them leave the burning inn and moved in toward them, six of them.
(OOC: Everyone roll Initiative! Xolu is currently in a separate fight from the others.)
