The punch shot into the thief's gut like a bullet as he doubled over. "Why you little ...!" he grunted as he drew back and swung at the insect. His ally charged in, too, but both were too slow to touch the child-like zealot.

Aelthas glanced to the side as he saw the scout dart past, amazement on his face as he raised a hand and produced a deafening, thunderous sound. The leader of the thieves crumpled to the ground, blood and flesh spraying from his back as the corpse twitched slightly. The paladin grinned, glad that for now at least, the scout was on his side.
His heart fell however when the woman to his left crumpled to the floor, fast asleep, murmuring about bunnies. "You have got to be kidding me..." he groaned, before sidestepping so he was standing in front of her prone body, between her and four of the remaining thieves.
"I've given you fair warning and ample time to surrender. You are charged with arson, multiple murder and larceny. In the absence of a legitimate authority, I pass your sentence." He swung his blade at the nearest thief, "Death."

OOC Untrained Knowledge (Engineering) Check to see if he can identify Taxen's weapon as a gun and not just a wand. 1d20+0 = 3+0 [Failure] 5ft. step to the left, protecting Renee, does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Standard Attack on whichever thief is closest: 1d20+5 = 14+5 [I'm Presuming I Hit] 1d8+3 = 10 Slashing Damage.
Of course, as always the rolls are entirely at the DM's discretion and she's free to change the outcome to better fit into the story.

(I wouldn't have let you recognize the gun, anyway. It's an extraplanar tool. Even the bartender, who had a history with such things, didn't recognize it. He understood it, but didn't recognize it.)
(The blow's lethal. Write it out if you'd like.)

"You're too slow, evildoers!" Xolu roared, swerving about and dodging the bandit's attacks as if they were moving at a snail's pace. The Dromite then reeled back before jumping out at the bandit again, his fist building up speed and trying to knock the bandit with a haymaker.

The last thing the thief saw was the flash of Aelthas' blade glinting in the light of the burning town before it bit into the side of his mouth, cleaving his skull from his body, his jaw still attached to his neck as the body crumpled, it's neck a fountain of crimson as the body twitched in shock. The paladin frowned, he hated having to take the life of another, even those as despicable and foul as these murderous thieves.
"It's not too late to give up. Surrender and I'll see you are tried fairly for your crimes." He glared into the eyes of the thieves, the blood of their comrade dripping from his sword and splattering across the hard earth.

*Xolu*
(That's fatal damage. You kill him if you're doing lethal, knock him out if you're not. Take your pick and write up the finisher as you please.)
*Others*
But the remaining four thieves only chuckled darkly at the paladin's demand. "If we are what you suspect us to be," one told him, "you should know that we would never surrender. Besides, we still outnumber you two to one, and you're looking rather messy already."
At that, they all, minus the one that was over by Taxen, turned and charged the knight, intending to drop him by sheer numbers if necessary.
Driven by the taste of victory, the first one, bloodlust in his eyes, lunges in past Aelthas' guard and plunges his knife deep, but the bloodied knight barely manages to bat away the other two with his shield.

He got careless, he never gets carless, something must be wrong with him, this normally doesn’t happen, getting almost badly gutted by some gutter eater rogue, luckily he had been prepared for such mistakes. This world had an amazing mixture of technology and magic, but at times even the simplest of Taxen’s instruments trumped the commonality of this world. His coat may have appeared as a simple travelers cape, but further inspection would reveal it to actually be armored with various hidden plates, placed in key locations to deflect and force blows to drive only a portion deep as they would. Specifically it was intended to stop bullets of his world, thus it was natural that daggers, arrows, etc would have a much more difficult time penetrating his great coat. (DR3/Bludgeoning, damage reduced from 4 to 1)
He would not let a minor wound like this stop him, but he couldn’t reload his weapon when engaged with an enemy like this, too risky, they could hit the gun and ruin all the work he had made up to this point. He would have to focus on his short sword, which he luckily already had drawn at the start of the battle. He now had to make an observation the battle. One of them seemed to already be unconcious, the other was being mobbed, and didnt look like he could take much more, could probably take one of them down with him but the knight probably would fall to the sheer number of attacks than anything else. After that, they'd gut the girl, then probably crowd up around him. He had to use strategy, although he wanted to repay the gutter eater in front of him for the wound he dealt, tactics were more important now. Even if it meant letting this punk get a free shot on him, he had to take it. Immediately he turned around and moved towards one of the raiders attacking the knight. (20ft, enemy AoO, skirmish ability activated +1d6 to damage) Intending to bear the opponents attack, he moved past his current foe and to a new one, swinging his short sword, intending to cut as deeply as he could into the neck of his opponent…

The thieves all struck at Taxen as he rushed past the first one to get to the other three, but though their strikes were true, so was his aptly named great coat, which shunted their blows away from him.

As he closed in on them, his blade bore down and cleaved into the back of the head of one of the bandits surrounding the knight, the dark-clothed figure dropping to the ground after the scout pulled it free.

*Dream World*
Renee walks over to a small rock in the middle of the field and sits down on it, and holds her arms wide before a small pink bunny hops up into her lap. Catching the small creature, she begins softly petting it's fur. "Such a cute little bunny... I think I'll call you Cotton."
The rabbit tilts its head at her as she pets it, before rubbing against her. "Awww Cotton sweet as candy."
*Waking World* The woman lays there unresponsive on the ground, and mumbles lightly in her sleep. "Bunny... Cotton... Candy."
(OOC: Listen check 1d20 (2) She hears nothing. Ever.)

Aelthas groaned as the thief's dagger found a chink in his armour and pieced his abdomen. He could already feel the warmth as his blood seeped from the wound, staining the shirt he wore under his armour. He remained on his feet however, his body trained to weather such blows, trying not to show pain. "Come on....is that your best?"
He glanced to the side as the thief on his right let out a strangled cry collapsing to the ground. The scout with magic "wand" from before standing over the corpse, a bloody short sword in hand. Aelthas smiled slightly, the sweat from the fire running down his brow as his heart pounded in his ears. "Looks like...we're just about even now." He said as he raised his shield before him again, glancing down at the woman he was protecting, silently willing her to get up. His heart fell however when he heard the words bunny, cotton and candy.
Sighing, he knew there wasn't much choice. If they were to get out of this alive, he had to use whatever means he could to win. "These mongrels are obviously not willing to surrender and a fair fight is out of the question." He growled, closing his eyes behind his shield and concentrating, the pain in his abdomen making it difficult. "Great Tyr grant your servant the power to bring these fiends to justice!" As he spoke, his shield let out a burst of light, glowing like the sun and illuminating the area around them as if it was mid afternoon, hopefully, that would blind the thieves long enough to turn the tables.

The Dromite's fist was accented with the sickening crunch of bones, and when Xolu drew it back, the bandit collapsed, his expression now permenantly affixed in shock. The little bug man's fist struck almost as hard as a mace made for one of the humans.
The devout of Zuoken looked down at his fallen opponent, and then back at the other bandit, readying himself for trouble. "Are you certain there is nothing I can say to make you forsake this dark path and seek penance? Bear in mind, I just felled your friend with two blows from my bare hands..." The Dromite's antennae twitched slightly as his compound eyes narrowed. "And he looked like the tough one..."

The remaining thief just chuckled darkly as he twirled his dagger with expert precision. "Pretty certain, yeah," he answered as he gripped the dagger's handle and suddenly thrust down, burying the blade deep into the insectoid's shoulder, somewhat above where the heart would be.

"Aaaargh!" Xolu, to be quite frank, had never been stabbed before, let alone in somewhere so critical. His vision blurred some as he glared up at the bandit, his breath slowing down as the Dromite, for once, calmed down and assessed his situation. A low, steady hum broke out between the two as Xolu focused his latent psionic energy into a last ditch effort. "That... is the last mistake you'll ever make." And with that, a shot of sonic energy burst out from the Dromite's pointed fingers.
