The bright, mid day sun lit up the city park, putting Jamie Weyrin in a pleasant mood. He was sitting on a bench, overlooking a pond and sketching a few ducks as they swam along. He'd taken a day off from the rest of the team, even turning his communication device off. If there were a real emergency, he could reached with Meddler's artificial telepathy...or Gone would come get him.
"Oh man..." he muttered as his pencil point broke. The young hero began rummaging through his bag for a pencil sharpener...

A young woman with blue skin and wearing a skintight black, grey and white jumpsuit with a strange cross symbol at the neck came running through the park, sending the ducks up in a startled mess as she kept her head down to try to avoid missiles that buzzed past her. She happened to glance at the boy on the bench and almost took time as if to tell him to run, but the sound of another missile being fired kept her from stopping.

Jamie glanced up in surprise as the girl and missiles entered the area. After a moment of eye contact with the girl, he acted like he understood the unasked request to run. Packing up his back quickly, the young man hopped over the bench and ran towards the trees. Once he was hidden behind them and some shrubbery, he stashed his bag and checked around. Once he was sure he was alone and unseen...
"Hero Time," he said, and in a golden flash of light, was in his armored form...Pulse. In another flash of light, he shot back towards where he'd seen the girl. Spotting her with ease, he sent a bolt of lightning at the missiles as he ran towards the girl, intending to scoop her up and move her from harm's way.

The girl let out a yelp as she was scooped up, but at that speed, there wasn't a lot she could do.
Before Pulse could go far, though, a robotic form seemed to hover down before him, landing right in his path. "Hand over the Mystrix, Metahuman," it demanded in its mechanical voice.

Pulse skid to a halt to avoid the bot. When it made its demand, he glanced down at the girl, then at himself, then at the robot.
"Not a clue what you're talking about there, rust bucket. So, get out of the way," he said.

The robot seemed silent for a moment, as if processing a more understandable demand, or awaiting instructions. "Give us the female," it clarified, and its red eyes almost seemed to narrow as their light dimmed slightly. "Or else."

Pulse glanced down at the girl again then back up at the robot, bouncing on his heels.
"Or else what?" he asked.

Instead of speaking this time and without a pause, the whole front side of the robot seemed to open up. The hands split apart to reveal cannons in the wrists. The upper arms opened up to reveal rockets. The face, chest cavity and legs opened up to reveal even more explosive projectiles. It was a walking armory, and it was making the "Or Else" self-explanatory.

"Ooh...nice. Ms. Tech would probably go all super-nerd over you. Though...not really gonna convince me. Last chance, Rust Bucket...give me a good reason or get outta my way," Pulse said with a laugh.

"We are armed to disable the Mystrix, Metahuman," the robot answered in its monotone machine voice. "You cannot compare." Light began to gather in the barrels of the cannons. Clearly, they were not simple projectile cannons. "Surrender it or be dismantled."

"Oh yeah...gotta remember to not ask the big rust buckets stuff like that," he said to himself. "Hey, little lady," he said, speaking to the girl he held. "hold on tight, it's gonna be one wild ride."
"Sorry, Rust Bucket. I think I'll keep this one...she's cute. Though...if you want her that bad...we can see just how well I compare,' Pulse answered, ready for action.

The girl held onto his arm to keep from getting thrown off, but she scowled a bit. "You really shouldn't have said that ..."
The robot's cannons flared and blasts of plasmic energy leaped through the air toward the lightning superhero.

"Heh," escaped Pulse's lips an instant before he vanished in a flash of golden light, shooting to the right quickly. Holding onto the girl, Jamie quickly snapped, sending a bolt of lightning crashing down towards the robot.

The energy surged around it, but was quickly grounded into the ground as the robot turned and released a salvo of missiles at the boy.
The girl looked down as the symbol at the base of her neck began to blink and beep. "Whoops ... Time's up!" With surprising agility, she grabbed hold of Pulse's shoulder and forearm and flipped backwards off of him, throwing herself into the water before the missiles got to them.

"I hate the rust buckets that have electro-proof plating..." Pulse thought. When the girl started making noise, he glanced down in surprise. He flip sent him stumbling forward. He glanced over his shoulder to yell something but remembered the missiles and quickly looked back. Bring his arms up infront of him, he crackled with power for a moment.
"YAH!" he yelled, throwing his arms forward, an electric barrier wall spreading forward from him and rushing to meet the missiles.
