"And to get to the battlefield," the Guardian countered, "we need to get the militia's clearance, don't we?"

Upon hearing that, the guard who was escorting them rolled his eyes and began walking along with them, still angry for his rewardless actions.

"I don't know anything at all of military strategies or the power of the local militia," Judas began slowly, rather certain he was speaking quite out of turn. "But whatever is our greatest priority must be just that, and all else second."

The group was then led to the other side of the town, another procedure for which the guard leading the group spoke with those stationed at the gates about letting them pass. It didnt take long before the large wooden doors were opened with a loud yet ominous moan as the wooden joints creaked through the stress of movement. Before the group. A long winding path along the rocky mountainside was what greeted them.
"Take this route and keep ta yo' map. Once you smell smoke and ash, then ya be close..." The guard said before he began walking back. The path before the group was quiet, incredibly quiet, but if they listened closely, the very distant yet barely audible sound of crashing artillery could be heard in the distance. Veon stepped forward without a second thought. Daristan shook his head, before following suit as well.
(Everyone ok with a timelapse?)

The group ventured forth along the winding path. It was easy to follow, as thanks to the rocky hillsides it created a sort of funnel for the pathway. As they traveled further and further, the dust and smoke of war and destruction seemed to grow thicker and thicker. At one point, they came across what looked to be a batallion of soldiers. Not of simple infantry men, but of various soldiers, mounted units, and a grand sight of various weapons of war. Near the edges of the line, were what looked like advanced balistas. With each load and release however, they fired off into the distance, a large bolt that seemingly exploded into various bolts of arcane energy, exploding deep within the smoke illuminating the dust from the inside.
"Judging from the various soldiers positions, they are preparing to advance... I do believe that we should find the commander of this vast force and find our positioning." Veon explained looking down over the cliffside.
"If that is what we really want to do." Daristan interjected, still against the idea. "We can simply just go around while the battle is ensuing can we not?" He argued.
"We may not have the army then to fall back on if things go awry, though, the position we are assigned to, does not make for a good spot to fall back on either way..." Veon noted aloud as the group continued down the slope of the cliff...

Maxwell mulled the positioning over, though the time he spent doing so was likely extended by his admiration of the magical ballista. "I've broken lines before. I'm aware it's the grittiest part of a battle. I think I've made my stance clear, I want to help simply because it's the right thing to do. However, I'm not the only member of this group, and it seems to me, strategically, the best option would depend on if we plan to come back here, or fall back here in any way. Helping them not only provides for friendly relations, but also helps secure the area so we aren't trying to fall back into enemy lines, as well as giving us a place where, if needed, we can return to resupply and recuperate."

"Hopefully we wont need to return once we have succeeded. And hearing how they described the enemy, I doubt that they'd turn our group away, as we are seemingly nothing like them, friend or aquaintance" Veon said. It was at that point that veon unhooked his Powerful halbard from his back. Lines of energy seemed to jolt through it momentarily in a surge of power, as if warming it up for the battle ahead.
"We are going to have to use every inch of power we are capable of in order to get through this battle, and still continue on, past the front lines and to our mission objective. We cannot rest until we have aquired what we have come for; time is of the essence. I suggest you all begin preparing yourself now if you have not done so yet. This will be long and arduous."

Maxwell clenched his left fist as the gauntlet gave off a dull glow and the area around it distorted slightly and drew the large bastard sword on his back with his right. "So the plan is, what, push through the line then keep going? Well, in that case, at least the disorder we cause while pushing through should aid the militia."

"Yes, yes, aid is just wonderful," Strife sneered, having been listening to the words of Veon and Maxwell since they'd left. Truly, he did not understand much of what they said--war was not something he was well-trained in--and so he sounded even more irritated than usual, glaring as he turned to the silent woman's corpse behind him*. "Let's just get on with it. Mutter and I are ready." From his side he unhooked the black spiked chain he used so often in battle, swinging it a little in practice before his focus shifted to the battlefield. "Erie, are you ready?"
"What do you think, boy?" The little girl was sneering, already taken by her ghost, standing straighter than normal, her bladed staff already in a hand with one end planted firmly in the ground. "Let us go. Army or not, I will kill anyone who gets in the way of our goals."
(* Since Strife's guardian corpse has not been mentioned since the beginning of the RP, I'm going to assume she's been trailing along with him this entire time, if that's alright...)
