"In many ways, Toriji," he answered, "you are more mortal than I. Neither of us will die of old age, but you will quickly fall before a holy priest, where one's power does not hardly faze me. One word from an angel would force you into a hole or scatter your being to oblivion, while I enjoy freedom that you will never know. Even your god Lightning can die, thus he is mortal, and he is bound, just as you and I are, to the chains of mortality. Just because I do not lie to myself and others about what I am does not make me weaker because of it."

"I fall not before the priest, or the angel, but he who gives them the power they have. Unarmed with that blessed aura about them, I would kill either quickly. You know this as well as , but the fact remains that I am in general a benevolent being. I have no quarrel with either of these entities."

"What you consider yourself to be is irrelevant, Toriji," Kali answered. "No doubt, Lightning also considers himself benevolent. That does not change that he shares the same vulnerabilities when confronted with the power of a higher being. Thus, how can he be a god if he is not all-powerful, all-knowing and all-present?"

"You assume he isn't... We could never know that he is watching us. Omniscient he may not be, but neither I nor you can prove or disprove that. So were back to beliefs and it can go no further. You belive he isn't and I believe he is, that is what it will always come down to and nothing more."

"We could very easily know whether or not he is watching us," he answered, "and you smoothly avoided answering the charges of a lack of omnipotence and omnipresence."

"I didn't avoid it. If you had been listening to what I said intead of looking for an underlying meaning you would know that I don't know. I honestly can't tell you whether he is or not."

"Oh, I was listening quite well," Kali countered calmly. "You are avoiding coming right out and facing the reality that the being you put your faith in is not what you believed him to be."

"Once again, your arrogance causes you to miss my point. With just the slightest reason, I would cease to believe Lightning is what he is. But.. in all this time, he has yet to give me or my father that reason. I'm not basing this on what I feel, but on what my father has told me." He knelt to the ground with grunt. Secretly he laid an illusion over his lower body to obscure his movements. Unknown to Kali, a shadow began to pur feom the palm of his right hand, even without the illusion, it would be hard to tell he was doing anything. "He hasn't had any reason to lie to me yet, and I don't have any reason to believe he just recently found one."

Kali just chuckled. "What you mistake for arrogance is simply a more experienced outlook. Lightning may very well believe he is a god, I am not saying otherwise. That does not mean it is."

"Hah! More experienced, so what. You've never even met Lightning. In ths case, in fact, I'm more experienced than you. The second you meet him, I'll give you a little more credit." Finally, the shadow pouring from his hand grew large enough to fall through. He did just that, teleporting himself to the next place he could think of, Earth.

Toriji simply fell right back from the ceiling of the cavern, landing uncomfortably on his tail bone (OOC: Haha! I made a funny!). The man-demon simply looked at him. "Were you trying to flee from this challenge of ours, Toriji? No, not the prince of the bone demons. He would never run like a coward. He would never bring disgrace to his father's house in such a way."

"You obviously control this place. It's the only way you could divert my teleportation and make yourself seem that powerful. It wouldn't be fleeing the battle, but escape from this trap." He looked from side to side, his eyes darting for someway to escape. "I guess the only way out is through you."

(A: You can't possibly know that he's faking his power level, that's metagaming. B: You wouldn't know that he was the one that did that. There's a million and one enchantments he could have placed on this place ahead of time to keep people from running away.)

[he's in denial. I'm not doing this to win, he's just trying to justify what he feels. I see what you mean, but knowing that couldn't help him in any way.]

(Ah, alright. I thought you were having him know what I had told you. My apologies.)
But the man-demon just chuckled. "On the contrary, unless one knows the way out of this place, one can enter, but one cannot leave. It was not my doing that kept you here. If you had fled, it would have been your own dishonor, not mine."
