"And if there was something you could do for your fellow man to alleviate his suffering even a little," Rensik asked next, "would you deny him that?"

"Fellow man you say," his voice was thick with sarcasm, "Rensik, I want to go to the castle 'cause I want to fix this kingdom. Each momen' we waste here a little part of all the Aiersts an' all the others fades a bit more, and someone else turns to dust. Ressurectin' the dead for a second time for the whim of somethin' that claims to be somethin' she ain't, ain't high on the list of sufferin'. 'Especially if helpin' her makes the scourge be deploy'd again. So you tell me. Make this thin' happy, make another batch of people like him?"
The last remark was obviously directed at the fountain watcher who was still having trouble comprehending what Mechio was saying.

Rensik furrowed his eyes and turned his head slightly. "Another batch ill like the Watcher? How would helping her cause that?"

"Aiers nev'r expands, it has a limit to how many it can support. Each time someone dies, more of you appear. If neither of us die, and two are born aga'n, what do you think will happ'ns? The sco'rge has been unleash'd before, so she's been doin' this for quite some time."

Rensik again glanced back to Kamasile. "Your response?"

"I just want my children," she stubbornly repeated.

"Hmm ..." The ninja thought on this, rubbing his chin with his gloved hand. "Mechio, is there any way of knowing if newcomers have arrived in this world yet? And if they haven't, will they not come through if the lives are restored before then?"

"I'd have to requ'st that from the Library. But, I do know that somethin' knows when things die and calls them anyway, even if they come back. I woundn' trust her to be consid'rate about who the sco'rge bef'lls."

Rensik then turned to the rest of the party gathered. "Well? Don't just sit there. What are your opinions on the matter?"

Judas only averted his eyes, hunching up his shoulders as if he was cold.
True rocked on her heels, her own eyes wandering the room for a long moment. She waited for three seconds—something she considered polite. "Is this one of those things where we can, like, vote for our favorite episode and they'll air it?"
That finally drew a response from Judas. He gaped at the girl, and his mouth worked before an answer for Rensik bubbled up. "Ah. Suppose, mm. I apologize, I don't quite understand. You... If this woman, Kamasile, has children, and her suitor does not die, the children will be born simple. Is that correct?"
"Um," True interrupted. "I've always been Pro-Choice, personally. Like, as in, Pro-Screw That Shit, I'm Not Dying for Anybody, and the more subplots you start, the more likely it is that somebody's gonna die, so, I think we should just leave right now, and not mess with this chick. I'm just saying. Kinda got here at a weird time."

Rensik nodded in confirmation to Judas. "Yes, that's what will happen. With more than one donating that energy, the odds of the donator perishing before the amount is accomplished should be lessened."
He scowled at True. She was entitled to her opinions, of course, and she was rather taking some assumptions about whether or not she was a part of the group, but it was more a matter of how she said it that irritated him. "One against," he counted anyway. "Miroir? Judas?"

Miroir's hands, having thus far been busy stitching closed the Watcher's wounds with her nigh-invisible threads, now slowed. Coming to a pause with her hands resting coldly on him, the woman raised her head to regard first Rensik, then Mechio, then Kamasile and back again. She was smiling, of course, her green eyes showing little in the way of how she felt about the matter, and it was only when she opened her mouth to speak that they could hear the barest hint of sadness.
"Rensik...and Mistress Kamasile. Truly, I would love to help. I adore children, just adore! And Master would tell you so if he were here. But I do not think you would do well to use me for this, and I do not have permission besides..." She shook her head slowly, adding after a moment, "No, I do not think Master would let me do something like this at all. I am not a good choice. Please forgive me..."

Oddly, at Miroir's polite decline, Kamasile bowed her head low, "I...see." To the others she would appear to have not even bothered with Judas's response, but Rensik was given the privilege of knowing that Lorelei was close to the Matres and had previously whispered, "You simply must leave the human boy alone."
Miroir's words earned a feline grin from Lorelei and she purposefully sneered at Rensik in her smug victory.
Mechio wasn't keen on letting the 'resolved' issue cool, "Good to hear m'am, now how d'we get out of here?"

"I understand you choosing not to contribute," Rensik told Miroir, "but are you for or against the actual procedure, itself?"

Lorelei was wholly unamused at Rensik's persistence, and undoubtedly what she was doing next was just to spite him.
She looked over her fingernails with arrogance, "Kammy dear, I do believe the guests wish to depart without leaving any gifts, be a good hostess and put the toys back where they belong."
The cursed Matres sniffled, but readily obeyed, at least to Rensik's observations. She raised her hands in the previous 'praying' gesture and just as swiftly sent them back without earning a protest from even Mechio. The haze of rapidly rotting flower petals deposited them back in the cobbled streets of Mavere.
Mechio dusted the degenerating matter off his clothes, "That's a break for sure."
