Miroir waited until Rensik was up the stairs and out of sight before she moved from the door, sweeping her cloaks over to Mechio and leaning down to offer him a pale hand.
"Our comrade is being a bit harsh, I think," she said quietly, her green eyes flitting from him to the stairs and back again. "Even a bit odd. But there doesn't seem any use in arguing with him...So. As I mentioned before, I've no supplies in here. I do need to collect Guerre, though. Will you come with me?"

Mechio stared hard at Rensik's retreating figure, initially he was slow to regard Miroir, but he soon realized it and snapped his more pleasant cheer back.
"Yes of course m'am."
He led her out to where the horses were. The fountain watcher was silent about all this, his eyes were fixed on the husk of the old man and then the chair that Rensik so easily and quickly destroyed. He seemed uneasy about it.
-------------------------
"What a funny joke!" Lorelei chimed in as Rensik was making his way to the room.
She floated so that she looked like she was laying on an airy bed, her hands supporting her face as she giggled some more, "I wonder what your student will think about that outburst!"

"It wasn't an outburst," Rensik explained in reply. "Mechio was getting out of hand. If he continues, his new courses of action could endanger us. I merely illustrated that he was not in a position to demand anyone do something wrong for his sake."

Her tone lost all its warmth and lowered significantly, "Yes, showed it on something that belonged to neither you nor Mechio. Value goes beyond the surface Rensik- was that really only a chair? What price have you paid in the example you have set?"
She laughed merrily to herself again as though she exclusively knew the full scale of Rensik's actions.

"If you are referring to the fact that I seemed to have broken my own word," he answered, unmoved, "I am going to my room to retrieve my coin satchel, and I will be leaving the money to cover the cost of the chair. I have no intention of breaking someone else's property and not paying for it."

She giggled to herself again before fading away from his exclusive view.

Ignoring her departure, Rensik went on up, got the aforementioned pouch, headed back down to where the others were and dug out what he hoped was some semblance of appropriate cost for the chair, placing it beside the dead man on the desk, then returning the satchel to his hip.
"Are you ready, Watcher?" he called to the mutant.

"O-oh yes, of course master," he didn't possess much given that all he really owned was his spatha.
Outside of the inn were Mechio and Miroir along with their horses. There wasn't much to do except to leave- of course if they could find supplies that would work just as well but Mechio's caustic remark held true in that no stores, sellers or such were anywhere to be found. Even the abundance of festival food was perfectly absent, as if they were never there to begin with.

Everyone was gathered outside and they backtracked through the deathly empty streets to filled archway where they had originally came through when they'd first arrived.
Mechio was the first to approach it and trace his fingers along it, whatever he was expecting to happen didn't occur, he let out a low curse and began steering Tabrin away from it, "We're lock'd in." He muttered darkly.

"Locked in?" Judas echoed, his first words in a while, and they sounded especially shaky. "Wh-what does that mean?"
"It's a magic thing?" True asked immediately, for clarification. She was on foot. "Like we can't climb the walls or teleport or anything?"

"And why are we locked in?" Rensik asked, apparently feeling that was more important. "Is it an automatic thing, standard protocol or did someone do it deliberately?"

Mechio's gaze trailed up the vast wall, "'S lock'd when we arriv'd, why it ain't lettin' us out now is prob'ly that Disir."

Rensik approached the gate and examined it, moving back and forth, checking its joints, its openings, any wear and tear. "Do you know what it's made of? What it would take to break it?"

"It's magical, katana boy." True informed him rudely, as if that made the current circumstances clear. "We have to solve a magical problem to open it, or else there's a plot point back there that we missed." She thumbed over her shoulder to indicate 'Back there.' "And the latter is unlikely, in my professional opinion. You can't bust magical gates down unless you're special."
Judas piped up weakly, "What, pray tell, would it require for one of us to be your special?"
"Well," the masked raggamuffin rubbed her chin thoughtfully, "Different things make you qualify. An elaborate name, maybe dead parents. Racial advantages. Lulls can be a deciding factor, if they apply."
"Lulls?" The boy asked. "A... reprieve, you mean?"
"No, I don't know what that word means. Lulls can apply if certain guiding forces believe taking specific actions would be humorous, even if the actions might be out of character or the wrong answer to the magical problem, like we have here. For the lulls. L-U-L-Z. Said lulz, sometimes, can substitute for the right answer to problems. Get what I'm saying?"

Rensik listened thoughtfully to the girl's words, rubbing his chin as he watched the gate. The girl had come from the court of the matron ... Maybe, just maybe, she might actually know something.
Without warning, his hand swooped down, grabbed the girl up by her red hair, whipped about and hurled her face-first at the stone gates.
